"The world (worried at global warming) has no appetite for fossil fuels anymore. Consumption/demand is continuing to decline"

Wut? You jest.

"Peak oil demand forecast for 2036
Wood Mackenzie date is earlier than many energy majors use in their scenario planning"

In the next 10 years the biggest impact on slowing global oil demand growth — which is expected to hit 100m barrels a day for the first time this year — would be fuel efficiency, Mr Rawl said.

Growth in demand, every year, for next 18 years when PEAK Demand is reached.

Forecasts Of Peak Oil Demand Overstated

"There will come a time in the future when oil demand stops growing, but recent forecasts putting that date in 2023, five years from today, should be viewed with skepticism"

So still rising demand for at least another 5 years!

"OPEC Cuts Global Oil Demand Growth Forecast, Again"

Global oil demand growth is now pegged at 1.62 million bpd, with total global consumption at 98.82 million bpd this year

For 2019, OPEC also trimmed its oil demand growth estimate by 20,000 bpd with World oil demand growth in 2019 now anticipated at 1.41 million bpd and total global consumption at around 100.23 million bpd, OPEC said!

98.82m -----> 100.23m Demand growth

Where is this demand decline you claim?

Similar for consumption - obvious why as more "developing/newly developed nations" moved up the consumption ladder(some of whom have large populaces soon to join Middle Classes)

Consumption/demand is continuing to decline

In fact it's continuing to increase. There has been some recent slowing in the growth rate, but forecasts remain pretty clear demand will continue to increase for some years yet.

Re dividend, look at it in the context of cashflow. Reported earnings are not relevant to the ability to pay (because most costs are historic and sunk) - but cashflow is.

How safe is this divi considering p/e is n/a? The world (worried at global warming) has no appetite for fossil fuels anymore. Consumption/demand is continuing to decline whilst resources of shale gas and oil also is changing the whole dynamics of the industry IMV.More supply/competition combined with less demand looks ominous for oillies going forward IMHO! The share price looks certain to continue it's long-term decline!

Surely the noun is "contumely"?

Sorry for being pedantic, but I hate confected, artificial and meretricious noun constructions - "competency" - "industriousness" - etc etc
