Results didn't seem great to me, but not bad enough for me to sell. Was hoping someone who knows a little more than me would post something useful!

Can it be as simple as to go short just before close on the day before ex-div ?

Maybe try it on BA. and TED who go ex-divi next Wednesday

2 articles in FT 14 May - triggered by Bohuon.

Don't much like high-profile CEOs, especially when they talk about making savings and putting them into R&D.

The Tintins might like him for a while - talks their language.

I'd like seven quid for my holding.

sp is more or less in lockstep with the footsie.

Safe enough, but down about 8% over 2 years cf ITRK, up 70%.

Why compare these two? Because they have similar yields.

Don't expect a takeover - new boy wants to make a mark (with my money!)

Was tempted to switch into WEIR, but increased my holding from elsewhere. Maybe half SN. into increasing ITRK and CRDA?

Mmmmmm....

APAD, many thanks for that.
On WEIR there will clearly be a very nice bounce at some stage,
my jaw dropped just a bit when I read the % on loan.

My focus has been on regaining my health over the last few months,
nearly job done now, hopefully.

EI
Once the fact that the recovery in margins is underway and reflected in the share price I shall consider selling SN. Basically, I do not think it is a great business. Looking at the implant side they sell highly priced kit in a very competitive market with no intellectual property advantage and the customers are one-offs. The hip joint was solved in the 60s and most knee joints are not brilliant.
Once they are at the top of their trading range I think I shall be out. The negative is that I may miss industrial consolidation in the competitive market - a take over.
I might consider putting some in WEIR when the shorters have finished with it (I think they may have a point).
You interested in any of the classics at the moment?

Stoppit EI - tempting the gods I call that, hubris, etc.

First view is that what it says is that the measures to reduce costs, which includes moving production, are working. Anything less than this and the share price would have tanked.

Still a hold for me. Probably a while before any of that feeds back to shareholders. It's only 1.2% of my portfolio so I don't angst about it.

I intend to look at the metal on metal hip issue (outside the financial literature) for the scale of the problem; the lack of news so far is a good sign. It still beggars belief that this fundamental mistake should be made again.

FWIW so far.

APAD is the man in the know on SN.- if he is about,
it's his view that I pay attention to.

Hi
New to this share. Any regular holders like to comment on the Q1 results. They look pretty good to me as the 'uninitiated'.

Bought back in at £6.04, only short-term trade though. What isn't in this environment?
