Lots of different companies producing Smart meters, Bglobal, OnStream, etc. Volume of installs is a very important part, as this is the bread and butter. Any figures on install volumes?

Bought in this morning. A couple of things stood out from this
morning rns.

ADM is a patent pending smart meter device for the I&C market with application in gas and water both in the UK and internationally. ADM is currently undergoing commercial trials. Based on trial volumes, the Directors have concluded that ADM is significantly less expensive than any other product currently on the market and is an effective replacement for the equivalent manual meter reading service. ADM features simple plug and play functionality with zero commissioning and can be deployed quickly using unskilled labour. ADM provides half hourly meter reading data direct to suppliers through secure information gateways.

Significantly cheaper and can be deployed quickly using unskilled labour.
Hopefully a winning combination.

I also like this bit.

Smart Metering Systems raised GBP10.0 million (gross) of new investment from a broad range of institutional and other investors by way of a substantially oversubscribed placing of new ordinary shares at a price of 60 pence per share.

Substantially oversubscribed. Should mean there will be a bit of interest
and volume for a while.

UK Gas Connection

Management of new gas connections and meter services.

UK Gas Connection is uniquely positioned as the UK's leading independent provider of outsourced administration and management of commercial gas supply infrastructure projects. This independence is important as it allows us to manage complex gas connection projects on an ongoing basis even when the end consumer changes supplier during the process.

Our services cover the full life cycle of new gas connections and meter projects which range from new build installations, to extensions, to existing buildings which require new infrastructure such as pipelines and meters.

We manage from the initial contact with an end user right through to management of the project including all billing and credit management activities.

Our client base includes the UK's largest energy suppliers.

UK Meter Assets

Gas meter asset operations for every UK gas supplier.

UK Meter Assets is an Ofgem-approved meter asset management company which owns, operates and manages commercial and domestic gas meters on behalf of the UK's leading gas suppliers and independent meter asset managers.

Offering flexibility through our ability to adapt to the needs of our customers.

UK Meter Assets' comprehensive IT system enables us to interface simply and seamlessly with our clients in order to track, manage and bill for the meter assets through multiple changes in supplier.

Our systems are fully RGMA and Rainbow compliant and operate through both the IX and DTN gateways.

All of our meters are smart-ready, providing a pulsed output for retrofitting our (patented) ADM Smart Metering Solution , which we believe is the most competitive and environmentally friendly available, or one of the other currently available smart meter devices.

UK Data Management

The key to the future efficiency of the UK's energy system

Recently established, UK Data Management has been set up to deliver the company's patented ADM smart metering solution which is very simple to install and highly cost effective and competitive.

ADM has worldwide potential and includes a full suite of web based analysis tools. It is suitable for use in both the gas and water industry and has been designed to exceed the requirements of both the industrial/ commercial market and the domestic market.

Smart metering is seen as the key to the future efficiency of the UK's energy system. This follows the UK Government's requirement for every home and business to have smart/advanced meter functionality by 2019 to monitor energy consumption, resulting in the replacement of approximately 22 million meters in the UK.

ADM can be simply and quickly retrofitted to the majority of pulse enabled meters therefore preserving existing meter assets where possible. This is critical if the environment is to be protected against unnecessary removal and disposal of vast numbers of existing meters as part of the smart meter roll out.

The unit is commissioned in seconds when activated using a simple fob and offers major advantages for the end user in data management and control.

Deciding on whether to get an iPhone or a Google Android based one. Anyone got either some screenshots of the share price monitor on the iPhone, or an idea of what i'd expect to see. I was under the impression that the iPhone couldn't display Java, or does the mobile version of ADVFN use something different?
TIA

5dma,

It is a possibility, the site is in its infancy at the moment, but hopefully we can address these kinds of requests.

Dusseldorf,

Thank you for your feedback, I will make sure it is passed on. The BBs function on the mobile site is not as fully featured as that on the main site at the moment, I would recommend using the link below for the time being to get directly to the main site version. Save this as a favourite/bookmark on your iPhone and you should be able to search and post etc.

5dma,

The streaming function is already available on the iPhone site. Go to www.advfn.com and try either the Quote or the Monitor page for streaming prices.

iphone 3G feedback on the mobile site accessed via web:
- you cannot filter discussion by company and have to trawl through 1000's of threads - hopefully that has been addressed in the re-released mobile site..

- ability to post messages should be added. Bit frustrating that the iphone is capable of allowing advanced features of the site, but you hide them on mobile and force us to use a locked down 'lite' version. How about 'opt out' cookie set of mobile site instead of using browser detect

Due to advances in mobile technology, ADVFN will be discontinuing their SMS services from 5 August.

Alerts will still be available on-screen and via email, you will not need to de-register your mobile number.

The mobile version of the website is currently being re-designed and will be incorporating streaming prices for the first time. This will be available via www.advfn.com on most modern phones. We recommend saving this address as a favourite on your mobile or as a button on your home screen if you have an iPhone.

For a long time, and until very recently ADVFN were offering a stock quote service via SMS. The text number was 60030, but hasn't been working for about 2 weeks. Has the number changed, or is the service discontinued ?

If so, can anybody recommend a similar service ?

Thanks.

Does anyone know the number, and the text you need to send to get a price quote by SMS? The advert seems to have disappeared recently.
I'm away for a week and really need to keep a close eye on one of my stocks.

Thanks in advance.

2. National (throughout india) ... -- INR 2.00 (US$0.06)
3. International (across the globe) -- INR 5.00 (US$0.10)

I dont mind paying something.
The standard amount seems to be 8-10P.
I want to integrate this into my online trading platform,
and may even send messages to Canada with it.

I would probably use 2sms- I know the people that run it,
but I dont want to buy 800 messages at $80.
I also dont like the fact that it will show their return phone number, not mine

hi energyi .....i downloaded text magic, spent ages putting all my numbers in, only to find i had to pay for it! It dosen't cost much, but being as i'm tight-fisted decided against it. I did find one a few years ago that sends them for free, but over time and computer probs have lost it. I dare say the cheapest way is to use the facility offered on-line by your phone provider.
