Yes countless, and could there also be scope for households with solar panels using the power created to charge their electric cars and still sell surplus back to the grid, all measured by smart meters?

This is a fascinating concept that will give the big expensive electricity producers a run for their money hxxp://brooklynmicrogrid.com.

Nothing like disrupting an expensive market, which could create a new non-centralised market for anyone who can produce electricity from solar panels/ farms etc . I can see metres playing a central role when selling electricity back to the grid or in years to come perhaps to the village up the road!

Full page article in S Tel. p20 addressing some of the concerns raised previously about the security of SMs. A number of myths debunked. Concluding sentence...'Not only are smart meters hard to hack, there would be no point in doing it anyway'.

Thx. The £150m raise last year reduced net debt and allowed for a big increase in capital expenditure. Energy suppliers need to get their skates on to install smart meters by the 2020 deadline. Panmure has 1060p target.

People with smart meters say smart is better

27th March 2018
Smart Energy GB today publishes Smart energy outlook, the largest independent survey of national public opinion on energy and smart meters.

The biannual nationwide poll into the opinions of almost 10,000 people in Great Britain, carried out by Populus, provides clear evidence that the overwhelming majority of customers who have smart meters installed in their homes are happy with them.

It comes as new official figures published by the government today show that over 11 million smart meters have now been installed in homes across Great Britain.

Smart meters replace the traditional analogue meters we currently have in our homes. They enable accurate bills, near real time information on energy use and greater control over the way we buy and use energy.

The Outlook survey found:

Around three quarters (73 per cent) of people with a smart meter would recommend one to friends, family or neighbours. That’s equivalent to 6.3 million people who would recommend a smart meter

The majority (82 per cent) of people with smart meters say they have a better idea of what they are spending on energy

More than eight in ten (81 per cent) of people with a smart meter think their energy bill is accurate compared to only 67 per cent with a traditional analogue meter

More than eight in ten (82 per cent) of people with smart meters have taken steps to reduce energy waste

One in three (33 per cent) of people with a smart meter are now starting discussions to encourage others in their household to use less energy

Have taken a position here recently.

Just looked back at my 2017 prediction here:

Not too far off although I didn't take into account the interest charges that knocked the PBT. £6.84 price target seemed pretty accurate.
