Something wrong with my screen. It is not showing a price rise today. The stock market must be faulty.

That's the wonderful wacky world of gearing through ZDPs. It's great on the way up, but when the music stops it can be equally horrendous on the way down. If you think the bull market still has some way to run - and I do - then stay aboard. We should be in for a fantastic ride.

Fantastic share price performance by SDV over the past 12 months. My average is 94p so they're currently giving me a useful 7% return on cost. However they are a non-core holding in my portfolio and with an 80%+ paper gain over a relatively short timescale it's getting tempting to take the profit even though it was bought for the income. I suppose the question partly depends on how long one thinks the current party is going to last.

Yes. It is much easier to remind one's self how NAV or discount has been doing in recent months in about 2 seconds by hitting the previous button instead of taking about 10 minutes by hunting back through individual items in the news list.

can some-one explain the merit of posting mere copies of company news available to everyone on this site? Or am I missing something?

Markets have lost a bit of momentum recently, so the continued growth in the share price here is very impressive.
I guess we go ex div early December.
I think I will add more ahead of that date.

I think there is a simple explanation.
SDV spread their risk and don't allow individual stocks to exceed a certain % of the overall holding.
GVC has had great capital growth and probably became too big in the portfolio.
Even though it became a bigish holding for SDV, they never held over 3% of GVC share capital and it was not therefore a notifiable interest.
Does that make any sense?
I suspect SDV still hold GVC, just a smaller amount.

It's not that TEB. They still hold NWS which is almost twice the Market Cap of GVC (£386 millions v £213 millions (ish))

I suspect a technicality.

Perhaps gvc stopped being a small cap so they had to sell or breech the rules of the trust. Gvc market cap means it is by no means "small"

GVC has been on my watch list for some time, but never quite made it to the top. I would be very interested to know why they dumped a decent holding. There have been a couple of minor question marks over their future business, but nothing that would have made me sell out. Well spotted TrentEndBoy.

Of course. The question is why did they sell? Got too big? Offer they could not refuse? No longer small cap?

Makes this share less attractive to me of course but they are doing a good job here and one has to take profits at some point.

Looks like TrentEndBoy's right. GVC's gone missing. That switch will reduce yield, given GVC's forward yield of over 10%.
