11/12/2016 12:13 | Sky is facing mounting compettiton from BT and streamers and sky account holders are phoning in saying they are leaving and most will get dosunted rates and many do leave like our son did and we geot a better deal. The tv market is saturated and will be more saturated with streamers, mobile media getting faster and cheaper, so this bid, if it does go through is the best Sky can expect for donkeys years dyor atb C& | cautious7
11/12/2016 06:18 | Once the deal is confirmed, culture secretary Karen Bradley will have 10 working days to decide whether she will issue a public interest intervention notice (PIIN). That will need to detail the concerns she has with the deal - she could raise concerns about whether Rupert Murdoch is a 'fit and proper' person, or highlight issues of competition. If she raises a PIIN, Ofcom will conduct an initial investigation within 20 days. If it has concerns, Ms Bradley will have to ask Fox to address any issues, and decide whether to accept what they suggest. A rejected compromise would send the bid to the Competition and Markets Authority for full review, which could take up to six months. After their scrutiny, Ms Bradley will have 30 days to block, approve or approve the deal with conditions. Many believe Ms Bradley will have to raise a PIIN because to do nothing could lead to accusations of bias. | mornington crescent
10/12/2016 18:58 | I am sure ITV management and shareholders would be delighted with a bid. But it's the wrong place in the cycle - advertising/economic cycle with BRETIX. ITV has a very different business model to Sky. ITV will not get any bid at this point. A few years time perhaps? Timing is everything. That's why I have been an extremely large investor in Sky over recent months. But I do agree with Bloomberg that Murdoch has got it cheap but I expected nothing less from the 'master'. I always said I would make money from BREXIT but always said and thought it was a catastrophic decision for Britain - and a catastrophic decision for ITV management and shareholders. For me the only thing that has changed post BREXIT is that I buy more copies of the 'The Big Issue' as I feel guilty the poor will now get even poorer. But not my choice. | boix
09/12/2016 22:46 | Yes good points am sure Murdoch was well aware that there would be opposition and would not have started the process unless he was pretty confident he could win. | tim 3
09/12/2016 22:11 | Yes many hurdles as ever. But I also expect they will end up paying £11.50 ++ Don't forget the rest of UK media especially DMG hate Sky and Murdoch in particular so they will write anything to suit their case. DMG /N&S will try another Brexit 'bullsh.t' but I believe Mrs May and the rest of the government will be on side this time. They had a long reported meeting in NY just after her appointment as PM. Actually if the bid does fail (very unlikely IMO) it will end up going to someone else for a lot more. Murdoch will at last be a seller! There are many interested buyers - VOD, Vivendi, Universal, Disney etc but that will never happen. Murdoch has got it! | boix
