Agree about the Nova thing looking desperate. Hard to see what's in it for Atlantis. I guess they need to de-toxify the brand and make Meygen look and feel like a project of strategic value to Scotland. Very much last chance saloon. They need to somehow survive the winter and service their debts and hope they get funding or a CfD for next stage of Meygen. Im holding what's left of my position as there is still a chance they pull this off and live to fight another day but wont be adding until we see what happens with their next debt repayment due end of December.

I'm not in a hole. SAE is priced to go bust. Any positive news out of Wales and we bag on the open. Any COP26 interest and 10 or 20 bags are easily achievable. Downside risk is negligible given the current valuation. Hold for gold, but be accepting of the possibility you could lose everything. Go big or go home :-)

We’re pleased to announce that we will be collaborating with @NovaInnovation

We are aiming to get more UK-built turbines in the water, turbo charging the tidal industry!

Initially focussing on delivering Nova and Atlantis turbines at the #MeyGen site.

Britain set for a cold snap which will send gas prices soaring, reports the media and even the BoE governor who said some people will have to choose between heating their homes and feeding their families.

Even Princess NutNut will have to concede that we need all energy production soon, even uskmouth, lest the people revolt.

I think the key word is "unabated". If algea will help CC of plastic burning as stated in a recent RNS what could it do for coal? I'm sure this would "abate" the carbon emissions somewhat. India has alot to gain from Gupta and so do SAE in my opinion. I think very few people here credit him for his business acumen.

Excellent news, but it'll be 10 years before they decide anything, at a great cost of consultants and reviews. SAE should be there saying how their tidal system has significantly less impact on the environment than a barrage, as shown in the video I linked. But I imagine if anything gets built it won't be to the best tech, but to the best lobbyists.

A NEW tidal energy commission will be set up to explore building a barrage across the Severn estuary for tidal energy. 6 November 21

Experts will look at different options for generating electricity from estuary tides, which could include a barrage or a lagoon.

Plans are embryonic and details scant - but a barrage could generate as much as seven per cent of the UK’s total energy needs.

Behind the plans is the Western Gateway, a new regional group of councils and other bodies, including Cardiff council, Cardiff Capital Region, Swansea, Bristol and Wiltshire.

A barrage across the estuary was last explored some 10 years ago, but plans were dropped, amid concerns at the impact on marine life and the cost of technology.

A previously planned estuary barrage would have run from Lavernock Point in the Vale of Glamorgan to Brean Down in Somerset.

But in recent years, tidal energy technology has developed rapidly, as have ambitions to decarbonise the energy system and cut carbon emissions. The current gas price crisis has also brought to the fore the need to reduce reliance on importing energy from abroad.

Tidal energy is much more predictable and stable than wind or solar energy. A major factor in the surge in gas prices is record low wind levels in Europe, leading to much less generation from wind turbines. But tidal energy would in theory be able to generate a steady supply.

No details are available on who will sit on the commission, or what the timescale will be. But the newly formed Western Gateway could play a key role in unlocking investment into any future estuary tidal energy scheme.

Western Gateway director Dr Jo Dally, said: “Our partnership connects many different communities across the Severn and is committed to achieving inclusive, decarbonised economic growth for the 4.4 million people who live here.

“The area has many green energy strengths. We are home to a developing hydrogen ecosystem and our ‘Severn Edge’ bid is in the five shortlisted sites to develop the UK’s first fusion prototype plant.

“We know the estuary has the potential to meet around seven per cent of our national energy needs. The partnership is progressing work that could see an independent commission established to explore how this can be unlocked.”

I don't think it will be (slowly). We all know what we're waiting for to fill the gap. Other news should snowball from there.

Tidal could supply 11% of UK electricity’
University of Plymouth-led study says extending support is essential to enable technology to compete
3 November 2021

Tidal stream power has the potential to deliver 11% of the UK’s current annual electricity and play a significant role in the government’s drive for net-zero, according to research by the University of Plymouth.

The study stated that harnessing the power of the ocean’s tidal streams can provide a “predictable and reliable” means of helping to meet the country’s future energy demand.

The study also highlighted that opportunities to accelerate innovation and drive down cost of tidal generation technology are not presently available “given the way the UK Government’s renewable energy funding schemes are configured”.
In the past, access to government funding has helped install 18MW of tidal stream capacity, around 500 times less than the UK’s current offshore wind capacity.

This relatively modest funding support to date has put the tidal stream sector on a steep cost reduction trajectory.

Cost reduction has slowed since access to funding has been removed. Extending such support is essential to enable it to become cost competitive with gas turbines, biomass, and nuclear, said the study.

The study also explored the potential environmental effects of such future developments and found no evidence to suggest that the next phase of tidal stream development will cause significant detrimental environmental impact.

The physical environmental impacts are expected to be an order of magnitude less than those created by climate change.......
