18/9/2019 16:42 | Some slightly odd trading patterns in the last couple of days (IMO), but you can't argue with a chunky uncrossing trade at 240p, can you? New closing high for the year, I think. And not far off the October 2017 closing high of 245.5p (according to my reading of Yahoo! Finance). | 1gw
16/9/2019 14:39 | Nassau and the Southern islands were not that badly affected by things and most of the survivors on the worst hit parts have been evacuated to here already. Now departing for Rome via Orlando and we made a contribution before we left to the disaster fund whilst here. | ukeagle2aus

12/9/2019 16:27 | Anyone else listening to the R&D presentation? A few things I noticed: - Seem to be hoping to get some results from Quark this half. Referred to it being a private company and therefore not the same information disclosure as with a public company. - Exploring extra-hepatic opportunities and see value there - Seem to be expecting a fairly near-term research milestone payment from MNK, also expecting them to take up their 2 options in due course Overall, (and acknowledging that I do not have a biotech background) I thought they did well and managed to present Lp(a) very positively. I had thought the subject of US IPO might come up but as far as I could hear there wasn't a single mention of the possibility, and no question from the analysts on it. Errors excepted. Edit: link to presentation below Last slide on "Outlook", last bullet point: "Extra-hepatic delivery - Numerous collaborations being explored. This is a key priority" | 1gw

10/9/2019 12:49 | Low volumes and generally a big spread this week it seems. MM's not sure how to position themselves into the R&D event perhaps? | 1gw

02/9/2019 20:00 | Series of tweets today from Ali on his thoughts re the importance of the Alny/MDCO Inclisiran safety data referred to in the above Alnylam release. | 1gw
02/9/2019 09:10 | Some positive sentiment for the RNAi sector expressed in the Alnylam release today. A shame SLN didn't come off better in the patent dispute, but still good news for SLN I think. "These results further support the safety of our RNAi therapeutics platform and provide the largest demonstration to date suggesting that there is no systematic evidence for a platform-specific safety signal. Consequently, these results greatly strengthen our conviction for the future potential of RNAi therapeutics in large population diseases. Moreover, the pharmacology of RNAi therapeutics, as infrequently administered medicines, creates what we believe to be a very attractive profile for the treatment of common diseases." | 1gw
01/9/2019 11:21 | BARRON'S ROUNDUP: A Billion-Dollar Biotech Bet: could be time to bet on mRNA therapy, the tantalizing but unproven idea that the human body could manufacture what it needs to cure itself of serious disease. Using messenger ribonucleic acid has attracted more than $5 billion in capital to four companies in recent years. Two of those are down double digits since going public. But the therapy is undergoing trials that appear to put it at a "pivotal moment," Barron's says in the cover story of its Sept. 2 issue.Big pharmaceutical companies, including Merck (MRK), Sanofi (SNY), AstraZeneca (AZN) and GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) are investors in mRNA therapy. | peanut100
29/8/2019 09:46 | I guess there's some nervousness among SLN investors about Mallinckrodt's prospects, and what distress there might do to the perceived value of the licence deal. I'm certainly following the MNK shareprice (and bond pricing) with interest. I presume if the worst came to the worst and MNK went into Chapter 11 as a result of the opioid litigation, that might complicate things and put some of the milestone payments at risk? On the other hand, if MNK did need to raise cash, might it look to sell on the complement deal (with its SLN stake) to another biotech? In any case the deal with MNK has in my mind provided some good "external" validation of the science and put some numbers on licence terms out there which can't hurt negotiations on Lp(a) licence terms. Most waiting to see what is revealed at the R&D day I would think, as well as hoping for news on Lp(a) licensing and IPO plans. | 1gw
