Most building materials companies have been reporting good profitability for months now, so hopefully SIG can start to follow suit and get their recovery under way. If so, we have a long way to go yet.

Cheers TC,

SHI remains a bet on Steve Francis being able to turn things round and restore net margins of 5% on something like £2 billion of turnover. I think SF is extremely competent, and at the moment scuttlebutt from the building industry is positive.

Some great research as always ZHO.

Where would we be without you? Please keep up the good work, despite the postings of the grade A++++ idiot in the background.

Thanks for all the informative posts.

Kingspan reported FY 2020 figures on Friday. Revenues were down 2%, trading profits were up 2%, but:

"The company said it has seen a strong start to 2021, helped by strong backlogs from the tail-end of 2020 and more trading days in the first six weeks of the year compared to 12 months ago.

"... group sales were up 20%, year-on-year, in the first six weeks of this year."

SIG PLC (LON:SHI) said it made a smaller loss than expected in 2020, as profitability continued to improve throughout the second half of the year.

The underlying operating loss is expected to be £57mln-£61mln, the building and roofing supplier said, after making a loss of £43mln in the first half.

The company expects £1.87bn of revenues from ongoing operations for the calendar year, subject to audit, including its Building Solutions arm that previously was excluded as non-core but is now being retained.

Like-for-like (LFL) revenues for the fourth quarter were up 4% versus the prior year, after a 24% decline in the first half of the year and an 8% fall in the third quarter.

Exteriors continued to perform strongest in the final quarter, in the UK and France, while the Building Solutions arm also returned to LFL growth.

Net debt was £5mln at the year-end on a pre-IFRS 16 basis, or £240mln in full, with gross cash balances of £233mln

Lost £20m in H2

Sales down 25% in the Uk

Now has net debt of £5m despite government help from CBILS and VAT delays and that massive fund raise

No mention of margins.....haha wonder why cos they are sub 1pc and under pressure

No profits until 2024

Anyway, it's nice to see some civilised discussion on this board as so many of the ADVFN stock boards are cesspits full of idiots.

An extra £3.5bn has been promised by ministers to remove unsafe cladding from high-rise buildings over 18m high in England "at no cost to residents".

+++++++++++++++++

Bridgend-based construction materials distributor Brickability is on course for an EBITDA profit of about £16m in its full-year results as its "strong recovery" from the impact of Covid-19 continues.

In a trading update, the listed company said its strong recovery had continued in the second half of its financial year and there had been " little material effect on trading" from the lockdown measures introduced since November 2020.
