30/8/2019 10:27 | might buy some, if these fall to around 85p
as the ceo has resigned, all forecasts are now toilet paper
just my opinion - no offense intended | spob
30/8/2019 10:23 | Nonsense, only spread betting novices would be daft enough to trade a share with a spread as wide as this.I agree with the oversold sentiment, but waiting for the sellers to dry up. | andyj
30/8/2019 09:05 | As usual, Douglas Adams* is prescient. Brexit will cause great gloom, so shoulders droop, heads drop and people look at their shoes ... The forecast "shoe horizon" is near now, and SHOE is well placed to benefit.
* for those few yet to discover it, "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy". | mctmct
30/8/2019 08:50 | I still made 2k trading it... picked up 10k of these at 1.38 ... currently down :) | g2theary
30/8/2019 08:19 | Micro Focus is barely profitable and has huge debt
ShoeZone is now on a very low valuation and pays a bumper dividend. I had sold my holding earlier in the year but have re-purchased in a few trades today | mister md
30/8/2019 08:14 | Like Micro Focus this yesterday... this looks over down tbf :) | g2theary
30/8/2019 08:13 | I've been buying here this morning. In some regards i am fortunate since I topsliced late last month, but this was too good an opportunity to pass up.
As I see it the TS reports a slowing high street and falling property valuations. Those 2 items are not news.
The real news for most of the (stock) market is that SHOE has a business model which is already part way through a transition away from those 2 problems:-
Falling property valuations are a result of falling lease rates - falling leases are a tailwind for SHOE
It is experiecing growth in its out of town and online sales. (The 2 offerings provide great synergies for SHOE).
So frankly a profit warningklinked to 2 things we already know is a little underwelming for me and the fall is overdone. My view on SHOE is that it is one of the few high street brands which will flourish in the new retail environment. It's a blend of online, out of town and high street stores + online + excellent purchasing power and own brand power + well-structered IT systems, warehousing and logistics.
In essence it's ahead of just high street and ahead of just online in a number of ways. Theses are the reasons it returns higher margins now than 5 years ago and has such good quality metrics such as ROE and ROCE. | thorpematt
30/8/2019 08:09 | I think the drop is an over-reaction.
'The Mrs' has held these for a few years, as a divi player.
Based on today's news, I suggested averaging down (from her 160p purchase price), and through AJ Bell, put a 120p limit order in, which got actioned, so she has increased her small holding by more than three-fold.
I also placed a limit order at a lower price, but that hasn't been hit, and I now expect it to expire today.
I, along with most of the population, can only speculate on what will happen regarding Brexit, but would hope SHOE have put in place their potential plans based on the varied scenarios. I'm sure people will still need shoes, and if their is a tightening of their available income, SHOE could benefit. | dsct
30/8/2019 08:03 | I've been trying to buy from £1.20 onwards up to £1.35 and my bid still ain't being accepted (currently showing at £1.28). Broker now won't accept my bid......everyone buying! | kennzo2020
30/8/2019 07:55 | Probably more warnings on the way
Have been looking from the sidelines and almost bought a couple of weeks ago
Difficult market out there | gswredland
30/8/2019 07:52 | took ages to finally get my buy through at 125p, they wouldnt give them away at 122p | mister md
30/8/2019 07:52 | Try again Tom. AJ Bell offered me 5000 at £1.30 | mctmct
30/8/2019 07:41 | Lucky boy then Tom! | glavey
30/8/2019 07:33 | Cannot by either - | tomboyb
30/8/2019 07:33 | Wait for sub 100p . | blueball
30/8/2019 07:32 | "The Board has also undertaken a review of its freehold property valuations and has concluded that it will be writing down the value of its 17 freehold properties by GBP3.1m to GBP5.3m."
So they were nearly 60% overvalued?
And the departing CEO who was the CFO has his wife spend 30k of family funds on company stock that subsequently appears similarly overvalued?
Whatever happened to prudence? | glavey
30/8/2019 07:31 | cannot get a buy quote online with AJ Bell | pottsypotts
30/8/2019 07:18 | Might be worth a punt at these levels -
Surprised to be honest - | tomboyb
30/8/2019 07:17 | the departing CEO's wife was buying shares only last month ... 15000 @ 199.5p
At this level might buy a few | mister md
30/8/2019 07:17 | Certainly a good buy now, and must have some form of rebound over the coming days. | kennzo2020
30/8/2019 07:16 | Bit overdone. Even without the special dividend it's now yielding nearly 10%. | zangdook
30/8/2019 07:04 | Very strange. The Chairman becomes the new Chief Executive and the Chief Operating Officer becomes his boss as the new Chairman. Who is telling who what to do I wonder? Meanwhile the High Street is suffering from internet trading competition and high rent and rates. I quite like Shoe Zone as their shoes are very cheap and you can try them on in the shop. They don't last long though. | kibes
30/8/2019 06:33 | Unlucky folks. This one will recover back over time though.Does say a lot about how Boris is taking the UK down the plug hole if Shoe Zone are struggling.Much more carnage and chaos to come. | sphere25
30/8/2019 06:15 | "Whilst the Big Box and Digital growth elements of the Group's strategy are progressing strongly, in the short term, their performance has been offset by the tough high street trading environment."
An odd use of "in the short term" and commas. I suppose they mean "recently" and that it refers to the trading environment. | zangdook
