Do you know how long it takes to get anything through the congress? It would be nice to promote such news especially if you are short.

but that might be a reasonable discount as it is not an all cash deal snowydays and Abbie could well fall today . I suppose the deal is better for US holders of SHP as they do not have the hassle of holding shares in a foreign company .
AS usa futures probably open now , the UK price just slavishly follows the US price . Must be trading at about $249 and cvlosed at $254.27 last night .
Whatever happens, it should be volatile and good trading opportunities too .

Surprising weakness. Price about 10% below the indicated bid value. I would have thought the prospect of a 10% gain in a few months would be attractive to institutional investors. Hopefully the price will jump when a bid is official.

bit off a selloff which is a little surprising . maybe the punters realise that a part cash deal is not so good and the discount warranted ?

yes, you are right ZHO and now realise I was wrong and still at about £53.20 level . SHP should open at about £49. 60 tomorrow in line with SHP close in USA .

>>i may be wrong but I think Questor has got the figures wrong ! AT ABBIE's current share price, SHP are valued at about £50.50 but could become less today if Abb slips further in USA today .>>

I haven't checked, but this morning's RNS says that "Based on AbbVie's closing share price of US$54.96 (and an exchange rate of US$1.00:£0.5840) on 11 July 2014, the latest practicable date before this announcement..... the cash and share mix of the Revised Proposal has an indicative value of £53.20 per Shire share as of 11 July 2014..."

i may be wrong but I think Questor has got the figures wrong ! AT ABBIE's current share price, SHP are valued at about £50.50 but could become less today if Abb slips further in USA today . hence the dip to £49.30 here at the moment but might be trading opportunities ! Anyone still holding stock should have a modest short with a CFD as some protection I reckon unless they believe another bidder will emerge .

US taking it down now and £50 was a good exit price unless another bidder emerges .

with it not being an all cash offer , I guess the price will struggle to get over £50 again after it did on opening .

It's all very much as one would have gave expected a week ago.Shire always left the door open, just a question of price. The market actually went the wrong way on this one which was confusing.

with it not being all cash, I wonder what kind a discount it will trade at in UK tomorrow if deal done . as i type SHP plunging in USA after hitting about £49 equivalent 4 minutes ago - what a pain !
