22/6/2018 09:24 | Value of the offer a few minutes ago, based on live fx rates, was 4841p with 2282p in cash and 2559p in shares. With current share price of 4072p, the share price would need to rise 18.88% to match. From the original offer value of 4901p, we have lost 261p in value due to fall in value of Takeda shares but gained 200p because of favourable fx movements on both the cash and share elements. Takeda (Yen) = 4468 £:$ = 1.32937 £:Yen = 146.479 | redtom1

21/6/2018 12:17 | @Romeike, Japanese YEN and Swissie safe haven currencies traditionally. I presume that hasn't changed. So concur with your "Do you not think that holding a variety of assets across a range of currencies is a good thing in a portfolio?" | fangorn2
21/6/2018 09:41 | Do you not think that holding a variety of assets across a range of currencies is a good thing in a portfolio?Strong rise in Takeda/Shire today. I suspect the deal will be worth about £51/52 a share by the time it concludes. | romeike
21/6/2018 08:45 | Thank you Monty, My understanding is that even if Takeda cannot be held then the US ADR's will be eligible to be held within an ISA should you wish to. This is from a quick google search but ultimately just ask or email your ISA provider: 'The UK regulations are clear. To qualify for an ISA, a stock must simply be listed on a recognised stock exchange. A list of recognised exchanges can be found on the HMRC website' Of course in the overall context of the shareholder base of SHP and /or Takeda, eligibility for ISA/ SIPP /whatever will not be relevant. My SHP are equal between SIPP and non-SIPP - and currently c. 18% of the total pot. I almost certainly wont be transferring to Takeda and will sell in the market beforehand to move back to a stronger yielding share at least within the SIPP. | pete160
21/6/2018 08:30 | What are the currencies for each of the components again monty, not sure you've said it enough times for it to fully sink in yet. | ruethewhirl
21/6/2018 08:13 | In these situations just buy the dips - it was a huge bargain last week when everyone on here was panicking including Monty. | nigelpm
21/6/2018 07:55 | Sold half letting rest run. I don't mind what happens, your right would fall back to 3500p but that's ok buy more tuck away. I don't like the deal, cash in Dollars, paper in yen, Shire in pounds. What happens in a Isa can we hold Takeda sharesLike I said if it had been say GSK shares plus cash in sterling, deal done no problem. | montyhedge

21/6/2018 04:41 | Looks like Takeda is on the upward trend at last. See what happens today it may be good. | ken tennis
20/6/2018 22:46 | Presumably monty you've sold out then? or are shorting shp ?As redtom's very helpful updates tell us, if the deal goes through, there is an upside potential of 17% or so. Outside of the wild west that is aim, where else am I going to get a potential 17% upside in 9 months? I'm not being snide, I'm genuinely interested. If the deal fails I suspect shp would quickly settle at £35, c 15% down. But at some point very soon afterwards another bidder would emerge or the board would need to do something attractive to shareholders with the cash balance (including the takeda break fee). | pete160

20/6/2018 12:37 | What's your guess it goes through I was 80/20 then 50/50 now 30/70.Not with Takeda near a 5 year low. | montyhedge
20/6/2018 08:29 | Value of the offer a few minutes ago, based on live fx rates, was 4795p with 2305p in cash and 2490p in shares. With current share price of 4040p, the share price would need to rise 18.7% to match. From the original offer value of 4901p, we have lost 359p in value due to fall in value of Takeda shares but gained 253p because of favourable fx movements on both the cash and share elements. 18/6/2018 17:07 | Yeah. Anyone other than Takeda. LOL | podgyted
18/6/2018 14:14 | All the stars have to align multi currency facts to take into account, cash in dollars, paper in yen, Shire quoted pounds, Takeda shareholders have to agree and Shire need 75% to say yes. Interesting times ahead. If it had been say GSK bang shares and cash sterling, done deal. lol | montyhedge |
