SP does not make sense when you consider peers are trading on an average P/E of around 15 and this is closer to 9. Brokers clearly feel there should be no discount hence the 5000p-6000p targets. Bizarre.

It does seem as if no rise here will be tolerated for long. Ideal for trading though.

Just read the Alphaville commentary.

Those guys kind of talk in riddles and it's hard to tell what they're talking about or alluding to a lot of the time.

Probably because they know their readers own the stocks and want any skerrick of bullish info, when they really don't have any more than anyone else, and are basically just as (mis)informed as the rest of us.

A bid from Pfizer might be welcome at the right price but I think Shire is perfectly capable of getting back to £50+ without bid rumours.

Volume has certainly picked up, the price is up and down around the 3500p mark like a yoyo right now.

A few closes over 3500p (support) would be encouraging

I think hefty debt loads are par for the course right now, companies have taken advantage of ultra low rates and most are now looking to reduce those debts. Shire is doing a good job of paying down debt at the moment. I'd be more concerned about the debt if it was being ignored.

Reacting well to 3420p support, hopefully the bottom is in, defensive play with some upside will suit me, not really bothered about the divi, just parking some cash for a few years.

Yield 0.71% so no good for income investors, perhaps write down coming for Bax division? Is that why shareprice falling?

Rome, had a scan of the sector over the last few days.
Allergan has a hefty debt load, however owning Botox and
Juvederm helps the cashflow!. They also developed Coolsculpt, which appears
popular atm. Insider buying in the open market recently - I don't hold currently.

EI - funny you say that, I also suspect PFE will approach AGN. M & A activity is likely to increase after a long lull especially if there is more cash floating around.

Shire looking more stable into the afternoon, hope it holds now.
