17/7/2007 09:24 | Shieldtech plc ("Shieldtech" or the "Company") Appointment of Finance Director The directors of Shieldtech PLC (AIM:STEC), a leading designer, manufacturer and distributor of body armour systems to provide the wearer protection against firearms and stab threats, are pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Denton BA ACA as Finance Director of Shieldtech. Robert, age 51, was an equity partner at Robson Rhodes until 1991. Following this, he worked for a privately owned business and then joined Jasmin PLC in 1994. Between 1994 and 1998, Jasmin obtained a listing on AIM and then a Full Listing. Robert left Jasmin in 1998 to join DuBois Limited which was backed by Bridgepoint, a venture capital firm. DuBois was sold to a US Fortune 500 owned company in 2000 earning Bridgepoint a significant cash return. Robert left DuBois Limited in 2006. Robert has today subscribed for #75,000 of new ordinary shares of one pence each in Shieldtech at a price of 26p per share and has agreed not to dispose of any interest in these shares (except in certain limited circumstances) for a period of 12 months from today. Application will be made for these (288,461) new ordinary shares to be admitted to trading on AIM and this is expected to occur on 20 July 2007. Today's appointment of Mr Denton fulfils the Directors' stated intention (as per the admission document), to recruit a full-time finance director, following which Gavin Kaye, who had agreed to stay on as non-executive finance director until such time as a new finance director had been recruited, has now resigned with immediate effect. Tony O'Neill, Chief Executive of Shieldtech commented: "Robert's experience both within a PLC and private company, venture capital backed environment is extensive and the directors believe he will be a significant asset to the group. His subscription for shares indicates a significant commitment to the group and the Shieldtech directors welcome him to the Board". | currypasty | |
