Thanks Bracke. Also from Zak Mir published Jan 6th:

Finally, it is the former fiefdom of BarCap legend Bob Diamond which makes its appearance in today's sector sweep. What can be seen on the daily chart of Barclays (BARC) is the way that we have been treated to quite a choppy range between 250p and 280p over the course of the autumn as the stock has made its efforts to base build. The likelihood now is that at least while there is no end of day close back below the grey 20 day moving average at 262p that one can give the benefit of the doubt to the buy argument. This is because the present set up appears to be a quite tight bull flag consolidation, one which should at least take the stock up to the area of the post May resistance at 300p plus. The reason for the optimism is that the current turnaround began with an unfilled gap to the upside, a chart feature which remains unfilled still. The timeframe on the upside could be as soon as the next 2-4 weeks.

The share price is sticking its nose above the fib.

Good afternoon Penycae

I have been watching Cable but wary of what Mr Carney may do. If as has been suggested he moves the unemployment 'goal posts' to avoid increasing interest rates how will cable react.

Another thing I often check: what BARC in the US closes at - since 4.30pm our time, its come down 1p. See what tomorrow looks like.

Yes, I was looking for the 200, which would have given me around 285 to sell.
Had a lot of cash tied up in BARC, so took it off the table.
Just got a feeling there'll be some profit taking off the indices, and the usual suspects will take a hit, BARC being one of them.
Probably wrong, but it never hurts to sit on some cash and bank a profit.
Just bought a stake in the Wood Group. Took it on a spread bet, as I'm aiming to stay as liquid as I can.
Doing some work on cable at the moment. No position at present.

Good afternoon Babywolf

Yes I thought so too. It will be interesting to see how it gets on with the fib.

280 has previously been a strong S/R zone.

Through the trendline and now at the fib (279) which is likely to be a tougher nut to crack. If it can move above the fib then the Daily SMA 200 at 285 awaits.

Thanks Penycae - appreciate the post above.
I sold early - on Friday at 273 in expectation of a pullback today - typical! Risen over 5p since..

Afternoon all.
Fwiw, just moved out of BARC. If it maintains momentum, I'll buy an equivalent amount on a spread bet. Just got a feeling the market might pull back a bit from here, but the trend is still your friend........

Glad you enjoyed it El C - I hope/assume you saw episode 1 from Series 1?
Think you will remained intrigued as the episodes progress.
Some critics say that the 3rd series was a series too much but I completely disagree. Ironic that following the last episode that a story re a CIA operative left hung out to dry for seven years in Iran broke..

Good day Penycae

REF BARC

286 = The Daily SMA 200.

It has resistance at a trendline and then a fib to get through first.

I look forward to your cable thoughts.

Happy New Year To All including monkey.

Afternoon all.

Babywolf - no, I'm still holding BARC. Trade is in the money, but I'm actually looking for 286.
274 would have been a good exit point for a day trade, but I'm happy to hold BARC longer term. I've had some divi since my purchase, so comfortable to stay with it. I'll keep a close eye on things in the New Year, because I think that retail and financials are likely to suffer a bit. Having said that, I don't think they'll want the FTSE or DOW to tank, so to keep it stable, they might just start pumping up the resource stocks, in which case, Mrs. P will owe me big time.
Gold is getting hammered at the moment, but I'm not panicking there, because the charts on the longer time frames just show that "they" are gunning for the last low. If it bounces from there, I think it will rally.
Got some thoughts on Cable, and AUD/USD, but need to look at the charts year end.

Have a great New Year all, from both me and the monkey.

Having listened to part of that 'song' you posted I find myself deaf.

I instructed counsel to pursue you for damages but he reckons you haven't got two beans to rub together so no point.
