Listening to the presentation they said the deal for Kenya as been on going since the price of gold was $1240 this makes you think the hedge was taken out so they could afford to buy the Kenya deal,
And i must admit they do make the Kenya deal sound very good indeed,

I agree gold miners are about 3 times behind the curve of 2008/2011 considering the price of gold.

Interesting. Chinese companies tend not to pay much of a premium but this suggests otherwise. I don't think that gold miners properly reflect the current price of gold let alone what I think will happen over the next few years.

I've read quite a few articles over the last couple weeks about Chinese companies buying up small gold miners:

I'm sure Shanta is in their sights.

As Eric pointed out in the presentation, a new Finance bill is going through in Tanzania which includes provisions for tax appeals. I believe it comes into force on the 1st July. Also whatever the size, the repayments have been recent - if they planned to give no repayments then why start now?
When I was looking for the details of the finance bill, I also read about various tax changes in Tanzania due to corona-virus, such as reduced turnover tax, reduced corporation tax, reduced VAT rate. Every little helps.

Owed over $20m in VAT. This has been an ongoing issue for years and doesn't look to be resolved any time soon. Two paltry repayment were returned which basically were a drop in the ocean compared to what is now owed and this is increasing as I type.
