No i am not assuming they have held the cash. More that the consignment of gold held at the port will go someway to repay outstanding VAT.

This can't go on for ever. The VAT refunds need to be made all across Tanzania.

Well, TG depends on gold revenue and fighting against smugglers... Shanta's operation is very positive to government and local community... So I won't be surprised Shanta will receive VAT compensation

You seem to be assuming that they have held the cash. Far more likely it has been spent or is sitting in a Swiss bank account!

Yes, when Acacia get back running TG will get double income from gold miners so they can stop holding VAT and compensate the past payments

The acacia settlement clears all the VAT owing to that company and we are led to believe this is a precursor for normal businesss relations throughout Tanzania.

They have very little debt but there really is no comparison. We should be a lot higher and hopefully will be once our debt is repaid.
