As an addendum to this, I can confirm that all the US-sourced plant & equipment needed to operate Bruce (and therefore Rhum) was replaced with European equivalents post-haste to ensure they didn't end up at the mercy of US sanctions enforcement. I believe the treasury waiver is a belt & braces approach to what is essentially unilateral US action.

The sound and fury coming from Brussels should be enough to relay the seriousness with which they take Trumps stance. Sanctions against EU companies will not be tolerated and blocking statutes will be used to ensure business continues as normal. Another aspect that seems to be getting lost in this is the extra-territorial over-reach by the USA into what other nations do with their own oil & gas reserves. It's unbelievable that the actions of an un-involved party should lay-waste to what is trillions of euros (£) investment.

For transparency, I haven't sold a bean, in fact I topped up £5k yesterday before todays dip.

kcr69, not disputing that matey, just saying it always was a factor.
Anyway it looks like we have fallen to a respectable value now for the new risk profile?!

The Market Makers must be rubbing their Hands with glee and going home to their

House in North London with a weeks work well done as The Great Warren Buffet said

Be Greedy when others are fearful.

I’ll be honest Dunderheed my reading of the waiver condition was that it is in the detail as a get out clause for Serica to ensure they don’t end up with a non producing asset and a huge bill to pay to BP. If there are no American personnel / companies working at Rhum I would expect the transaction to complete without the need for any waiver being obtained.

I think it will be a non event however as there is legal precedent for resurrecting an escrow account, and I just can’t see the mighty Don falling on his sword and upsetting one of his main allies over a tiny field in the North Sea.

Not a well worded RNS. When the takeover was announced it is not conditional upon the waiver.

Stupid market reaction

Cheers bounty / CfC I'll leave the TXP on the watch list but prefer Trin which like SDX has already gone up quite a lot lately.
Trin mgt excellent.
I'll look at PPC in a bit but that ticker seems familiar already?!
EOG picking up a little today - I think seller cleared at last?

DH - the small cap I didn't mention earlier was PPC - only in for 50k shares though - as already a producer lower risk than some of the others such as IOG, CLNR, EOG and HUR which I'm also interested in but lower potential gains also;
the one I am most confident in right now is SDX although risen a fair amount recently
