Posted at 04/3/2024 21:26 by gargoyle2 Watched the results presentation a couple of times today. 2023 results very good imo – adjusted EPS of 10.28p (or 7.74p if you strip out the 2p plus from the release of certain tax provisions, which won’t be repeated next year) much better than the 6.77p forecast in Stocko and Sharepad. Looking ahead, there seems to be plenty more growth to come from civil aerospace (42% of group revenues in 2023), with both Airbus and Boeing ramping up their single-aisle and wide-body build rates over the next few years. It will be around 2026 before build rates are back at pre-pandemic levels, so plenty of room to grow. Boeing’s 737 Max problems do not seem to be a big issue for SNR – only 6% of group revenues came from the Max platform last year and even if SNR’s Max rate stays at current levels all year (i.e. Boeing isn’t permitted by the FAA to ramp up higher), SNR will still end 2024 with higher Max sales than last year. Bindi confirmed that they still anticipate hitting the ‘minimum 13.5% ROCE target’ by the end of 2025 (ROCE was 7.1% in 2023). There’s a potential 2024 slowdown ('normalisation') in the land vehicle market and the growth in the Flexonics division as a whole looks like it might slow a bit, but Aerospace should take up any slack imo. My sense is that they are pretty well-advanced with the sale of the Aerostructures business – any buyer would likely want some more clarity around the 37 Max position before committing imo and SNR might also be looking to ramp up on other aerospace platforms before any sale. They have clearly done a lot of work on a deal though - they spent £3.2m on ‘costs associated with potential divestment activities’ in 2023 – that’s a lot more than setting up a data room and drafting an SPA (even at Slaugher and May's rates). My guess is that Abu Dhabi based Strata (part of the Mubadala group) might be in the race – I’m guessing a deal will be announced within the next 3-6 months. |
Posted at 30/1/2024 18:10 by gargoyle2 Jefferies today: JEFFERIES RAISES SENIOR PLC PRICE TARGET TO 215 (195) PENCE - 'BUY' |
Posted at 05/12/2023 19:27 by gargoyle2 Interesting contract award today - small beer in terms of value ($12m over 7 years), but what is more interesting is the identity of the counterparty. Strata is a growing UAE-based manufacturer of structures for the aerospace and space sectors, with apparently good relationships with Boeing, Airbus, Pilatus, Leonardo. It's SNR's first contract with Strata, which I'm sure they are looking at as providing big opportunities in both those sectors, especially space, where SNR has seen increased levels of business. What is more interesting is that Strata is state-owned, it's part of the huge Mubadala investment group, which has billions of dollars available for investment and has been expanding in all sorts of sectors. It wouldn't surprise me to see Strata emerging as a potential buyer of SNR's Aerostructures business. That deal would propel Strata/Mubadala/UAE to another level in terms of its footprint and relationships imo. |
Posted at 14/10/2023 19:12 by lindowcross From Citywire, 28.9.23Jefferies: Senior signs significant contract win Engineering group Senior (SNR) has announced one of its largest contracts in recent years which will help provide ‘strong future visibility’, said Jefferies. Analyst Andy Douglas reiterated his ‘buy’ recommendation and target price of 195p on the Citywire Elite Companies + rated stock, which was trading at 163p on Wednesday. Senior has confirmed a new 12-year contract with Rolls-Royce (RR) for the supply of precision-machined structures and components. ‘History tells us that Senior does not announce contract wins and extensions unless they are a meaningful size,’ Douglas said. ‘Hence, although there are no figures included in this statement, and it is over a 12-year period – these contracts are normally three-to-five-years – it will be one of the largest contract announcements we can remember.’ Douglas said the contract will be ‘important for the Ketema business near San Diego – this is a structures business, operating at the top-end in terms of complexity for precision machining – providing it with strong future visibility, yearly sales will rise with platform group, and we are assuming a healthy margin profile will have been negotiated’. ‘While consensus forecasts will not change, this is helpful for sentiment,’ he said. |
Posted at 05/10/2023 14:18 by gargoyle2 After last week's RNS regarding the 12 year contract extension with Rolls Royce, I rewatched the last results presentation. In that, the CEO says that there are some big contracts coming up for renewal in the 2025/26 timeframe (I assume the RR contract was included within that) and that SNR were currently in pricing discussions with the counterparties. He said that we should expect a lot of those contracts to have "significant price increases". No mention of new RR price was given in the RNS, but I would expect it to be quite a bit higher than in previous years. |
Posted at 18/4/2023 09:46 by gargoyle2 SNR update this week possibly. AGM is on Friday, last year's trading update was the day before the AGM. Recent 747Max issues might be a short term concern, but otherwise I'm looking forward to a solid update. |
Posted at 27/2/2023 15:23 by yertiz I take it all back, SNR has been let out of its box and surely will breech the £2 ceiling sooner rather than later/never. |
Posted at 01/2/2023 13:23 by gargoyle2 Wouldn't surprise me to see a bid here. Share price has been remarkably strong recently. Is it just FTSE250 trackers buying? The latest trading statement was very short and sweet, remarkably low on detail compared to previous trading updates. I wondered whether that might be cat and mouse with a potential bidder. Wait and see, I guess. |
Posted at 01/2/2023 13:05 by lindowcross The share price seems to be heading back to close to the Lone Star offer amount. Perhaps it will reach it this year, thus sparing us the irritation of having witnessed the Yale guys in chinos sell the business in three years' time for 50% more than they had paid for it. |
Posted at 19/3/2022 08:20 by lindowcross The Princeton boys in chinos made their offer in the summer of 2021 at £2.00, not out of philanthropic generosity but because they reckoned they could make a few bob from an undervalued asset. Who knows what they concluded? Possibly that with the right management SNR could be worth a lot more than £2.00 after five years: that takes us to around 2026. This is from the Lone Star website: "Lone Star seeks investment opportunities in markets that have suffered an economic and/or banking crisis, resulting in a dislocation in asset pricing and value opportunities." So I'm content to trade on the sidelines and await developments until then. I'd resent some smooth wheeler-dealers buying the company on the cheap. So if the SNR share price is truly "dislocated", it follows poor, downtrodden foot-soldiers like us can benefit from a share price which currently doesn't reflect true value. Oh, and by the way, as they used to say in 1940, "don't you know there's a war on?" |
