SDX announces a successful well test result at its Ibn Yunus-1X discovery, Egypt. The well successfully flowed natural gas at a stabilised rate of 39.3 MMscf/d. SDX and its partners aim to bring the discovery into commercial production prior to year end 2018.

There still seems to be a fair amount of selling on any good news. I guess it's the final flurry of early stage investors as much as anything. When these seedcorn investors are done, we should have a more reactive share price. A rerating certainly seems justified by events.

They might be able to deduce something by chemical analysis of the gas. The results of Kelvin will also give plenty of information which will allow the company to remodel the structures. This should allow them to build a more accurate picture of whether there is a single large field inside a couple of months or so.

But first, Kelvin needs to come in!

Ok, Kelvin will help confirm if we have one large gas field at SD.
However, there must be a way of establishing if the original SD well and Ibn Yunus 1X are connected via a large gas reservoir.

they don't know this yet, they will definitely tell the market when they know. Kelvin has to be drilled and tested first.

@Haider, Kelvin I think, and some other testing probably afterwards.

PW must have known the rate yesterday but still said they were targeting 50-60mmscf/d from SD1-X and Ibn-Yunus. Is he understating or is that what they are going to produce due to the fiscal regime in Egypt? You can understand that they might not want to produce over a certain amount if they could make more money over time producing a smaller amount per year.

Potentially. Kelvin and SD-1X are potentially one large structure as stated in the presentation updated yesterday on the website. Today's news is enormous and will generate revenue by the end of this year. Couldn't be happier.

The Ibn Yunus 1X well was drilled to a total depth of 9,608ft, and encountered 100.8 ft. of net conventional natural gas pay in the Abu Madi horizon, which had an average porosity in the pay section of 28.5%.

Well test operations have now commenced and the well has successfully flowed natural gas at a stabilised rate of 39.3 MMscf/d on a 32/64" choke. This flow rate exceeded initial expectations and was limited by the surface facilities put in place to test the well. The well has now been shut in for an initial build-up after which a series of additional flowing periods will be conducted and fluid samples taken.

Working with its partners, SDX will now aim to bring the discovery into commercial production prior to year end 2018.

So pw thinks the value of sdx should be double current value and unrisked treble risked.I think £1.50 is fair value at present, they about to start testing ibn yunus which once commences will take 5-7 days.He hinted in interview that next 10 days interesting.
