Interesting that Salesforce have just paid $2.8 billion for Demandware that has revenues of $240 million and is yet to make a profit. Analysts say this is the missing piece in the puzzle for Salesforce but surely language localisation would be the final missing piece. One wonders if SDL will be attractive to Saleforce.

Read Panmure Gordon & Co's note on SDL PLC (SDL), out this morning, by visiting hxxps://www.research-tree.com/company/GB0009376368

"A trade press release on SDL Machine Translation tells us that the demand for translation output continues to increases and that SDL translation business is not just a human Time & Materials business, but is ‘programmable’ using Machine Translation. Indeed, SDL has been developing MT technology for over 20 years, with the latest update, XMT, released in 2015. Being born in software gives greater scale, operational leverage and reminds that SDL has an effective foil to price deflation. While SDL’s share price has been..."

Well its interesting that Mark Lancaster (if it the same Mark Lancaster who was the previously removed CEO of SDL) has built up a stake in Nyota Minerals, a cash shell, that seems to be having a battle with some shareholders at the moment.

If it is him, I wonder if he has some unfinished business with his baby - SDL.

Disappointing they lost the Microsoft contract. Compared to Lionbridge on the NYSE this is starting to look expensive.

Seem to recall that he stepped down once before and was reinstated 2yrs later, certainly the market is voting this as good news, not so "unloved" any more!

A damning indictment of the CEO that the share price rises 10% on the announcement of his resignation.

Probably vulnerable to a bid now. Could be a takeover target.

Anybody any thoughts as to why this company appears so "unloved" at the moment?

On the 7th Sept just over 17 million shares changed hands. I'm pretty sure that we have gone over the time period when a change in ownership should have been reported.

Have Toscafund sold all their shares and not reported this?

And who bought?

Between 11-22% of SDL shares changed hands the other day. But no RNS and no one seems to have noticed.

Is SDL a potential target for Adobe, Salesforce and Oracle?

Their acquisitions over the last 3 years suggests these big 3 are scrambling for dominance in the marketing sphere.

They all seem to miss out on one important component - Language translation technology. As these three fight for dominance are Lionbridge and SDL the next big target?

Oracles recent acquisitions are:
BlueKai at 5.9 times their revenue
Responsys for 6.9 times their revenue
Datalogix at 9.6 times their revenue (and unprofitable)

Yes, language translations seems to be ticking along nicely - so if technology can be turned round as well, then there should be good news for shareholders further down the line.

SDL seems on track with main business ahead of expectations, despite weakness in technology.

I hope theyre not about to buy DotDigital because a lot of shares seems to have been changing hands in that company and it seems overvalued even now.
