Perhaps it indicates he plans to hold them for the long term and make sure future dividends are not taxed either. Although of course he could sell them in his ISA and then reinvest his profits elsewhere.

Why is it encouraging? I want to understand it

The late RNS shows a non-exec transferring almost £15k of his shares into his ISA at 184p. Which is rather encouraging:

Hastings and Rivaldo - Many thanks for your input - Been here since 2017 so a very happy bunny -
Agreed that no longer cheap - Concern was/is that may be expensive but are in the right market sector at the right time-

SDI are already confident enough to tell us - a year in advance - that they will "substantially exceed the market's sales and profit expectations for the year ending 30 April 2022".

Assuming they achieve forecasts, they will have trebled their EPS in just four years, and grown PBT from £2.3m to £4.3m in two years and then to £8.8m in the four years.

Given that confidence, it's likely imo - particularly given the Board's usual caution - that the figures quoted will be on the conservative side. Which means that SDI have a good chance of exceeding these figures too.

Plus there are likely to be more earnings-enhancing acquisitions every so often.

The secret is out, and SDI are no longer "cheap". But the market is always happy to pay larger multiples and increased ratings for the type of visibility that SDI currently have.

Particularly once a management team have gained the market's trust over a long period as SDI's have.

I’m a long term holder also.
I think the share price was low a few months ago. I couldn’t believe it was staying put at 98p(Ish) and then suddenly it has shot up.

Now, it seems closer to fair value.
I know growth this year had been great, but SDI don’t always grow EPS at a strong rate, so I’m surprised share price is this high.

From the perspective of a LTBH, hopefully an awful lot!

Glaws2 - Please see my edited note above 1024 - Finncap house broker so targets need taking with a very large sack of salt - (comment based on historic losses when I used to believe in House Broker targets nb - Not specific to FinnCap who tend to be one of the better ones but you do not bite the hand that feeds you - do you?)

Reason for question bid now 188p so above house broker target - How much if any upside left?

Pug - both Finncap & Progressive cover SDI - you can get their research by registering on their sites or via Research Tree. Finncap taget price (on 10 Feb) was 180p - Progressive didn't state one.

Pre-MIFID retail investor in collective funds unknowingly incurred research costs which were hidden in trading commissions.

Post-MIFID these costs had to be taken to the P&Ls of the managers of the collective funds.

Much of this research then dried up as it clearly had no real value.

A world of less research should be advantageous to PIs who then do their own.

Has anyone access to proper broker targets in this nappy Mifid era when PI's are treated like mushrooms -

The slow rise continues. I am tempted to add more but bought into gama who are a bit similar but a lot bigger.

Strong continued interest in SDI Group. Does not surprise me given the sector, its profitability and the ongoing track record of the management. The possibility of a further sensible and immediate earnings enhancing acquisition in 2021 looms large. Long term hold for me. Fils

And it'll look even nicer if she quickly does the same with her 21-22 ISA next week ;-)

RNS - great to see a non-exec using her entire £20,000 ISA allocation for the year to transfer SDI shares into the ISA at 177.9p:

SDI are featured in a new Money Week article by Mike Tubbs about the thriving scientific instruments sector and the companies therein - SDI are by far the smallest company mentioned (apart from Kromek, who I'd steer clear from at their current valuation, though I'm also invested in EKF which is the next smallest to SDI):

"Scientific-instrument companies are a global success – here's how to play them

Companies delivering scientific instruments – products to measure and analyse our world – are crucial to sectors ranging from telecommunications to pharmaceuticals. Dr Mike Tubbs picks his favourite stocks in the sector.

Bit of a seller cleared I reckon, been easy to add for the last week or so but very little stock around now.
