24/3/2021 12:05 | What are the 2023 predictions. Thanks in advance. | bigalan3
24/3/2021 10:50 | It is instructive that the leadership telegraph Revenue, EBIT and EPS out as far as FY23, it says a lot about managment of expectations. | this tea tastes of chicken
23/3/2021 16:00 | Hi fillspectre. I agree with bigalan3 - JDG's results were poor at first look, but reflective of the pandemic and its effects. Perhaps SDI were lucky that a number of their products could be used to combat COVID-19. Or perhaps you could ask instead, how was it that SDI were able to repurpose and/or market their products to take advantage of the situation to such an incredible extent that they're thrashing market expectations, whereas JDG were not able to do so? | rivaldo
23/3/2021 08:06 | Judges results not too bad in the light of what has happened. | bigalan3
23/3/2021 07:28 | Rivaldo - any read across to SDI from the Judges Scientific results out today? Fils | fillspectre
22/3/2021 14:07 | Last week Sentek (one of SDI's most successful subsidiaries) put this general news article/puff piece up on their web site. This extract about the uses for ph measurement was most informative, but I thought the paragraph about medical uses was particularly interesting: "The Importance of pH Measurement There are many reasons why measuring pH is important in a range of industries: Manufacturing- In a variety of manufacturing settings, pH measurement can ensure reproducibility and quality of products. Water Industries – It is important to measure the pH of water, including wastewater, drinking water, and natural water sources such as lakes and oceans. This helps avoid pollution that could harm the environment, people or wildlife. Swimming Pools – pH of swimming pool water is monitored and kept to a neutral or slightly alkaline pH to prevent skin irritation. Checking the pH can also help prevent common maintenance problems. Medicine – There are many medical and pharmaceutical uses for pH electrodes, including ensuring a precise pH for bacterial growth, or checking pH of medicinal products to ensure they are safe for human consumption. Cosmetics – Determining the pH levels of cosmetic products can give information about quality and safety. Food Production – Measuring pH allows producers to find the optimum level for the best quality produce as well as making sure public health is maintained. There are many different food applications in which pH electrodes are used, for example dairy products, fruit, vegetables, bread, pickled products and many more. Beverages – pH is an important measure in the beverage industry, including wine production, brewing, fruit juice production and many more. It can help ensure that the product is reproducible and maintains taste and quality." | rivaldo
14/3/2021 11:16 | Thanks for this Riv. The last portfolio in the IC (mag)was J Baron Investment trust portfolio: Preparing for inflation. The Rosier portfolio is dated March 12th. It has no reference by IC email daily bulletins. therefore I missed it Presumably it will be picked up in next Friday's IC. I have five of his shares. I find the IC website a nightmare. It's all there you have to find it. E.G. THE WEEK AHEAD. | petewy
13/3/2021 16:36 | Nice coverage from John Rosier in his portfolio update in Friday's IC: "My exposure to commodities was the main driver of performance in February, but the standout winner was SDI Group (SDI), the scientific instrument's manufacturer. It was up 57.2 per cent following a very bullish trading update. It said it expected revenue for the year ending 30 April to be up 38 per cent on last year to £38m and for April 2022, up a further 24 per cent to not less than £42m. This new guidance compared with previous forecasts of £32.8m and £35.3m respectively. SDI expected adjusted pre-tax profits for April 2021 and 2022 to be not less than £6.7m and £8.7m compared to forecasts of £5.8m and £6.8m. That's a massive 42 per cent increase in guidance for the year ending April 2022, and that's before the positive effect of further acquisitions." | rivaldo

10/3/2021 10:06 | There was a big story earlier this month about graffiti on Munch's The Scream painting which has now been revealed to be by Munch himself. Turns out this discovery was achieved using one of Opus' infrared cameras. You can't beat that for good PR! | rivaldo
09/3/2021 07:32 | Nice spot riv and a good read. Also nice to see Monmouth tweeting yesterday that planning permission had been received and that work on the new HQ commenced yesterday with completion due at the end of the year. | hastings
05/3/2021 12:22 | Looks like the MMs are trying a few tricks to get in some stock. Volumes are tiny at only 122k shares relative to the price movement (it's possible that there's some trades still to be reported, but even so....). | rivaldo
03/3/2021 14:41 | JP Morgan now have just over 5m shares: Looks like they're buying from Bennbridge, who are doing a bit of top-slicing per their own RNS just out. | rivaldo
