It's a good question and I was thinking the same. It may be an anticipation of a much tougher Q4, Q1 2021. Dunelm sell many small items as well, so arguably a different model which thrived during lockdown on online ordering.

Both DFS and Dunelm are stating it's "Go go go for retail furnishers". So what's the problem here???

It's an illiquid small cap .. best put in a small orders at the price you want and build that way .. you tend to get skinned on large orders

Just looking at these as a potential buy. Can anyone familiar with the share advise if the current 10p spread is normal. A dummy trade suggests I can trade a couple of pence lower but it still seems wide in relation to the share price.

We'll have to wait and see won't we. It may pause to re-test first, but I am sure all it good time. Ultimately I'd be looking for higher lows and something of a confirmed uptrend. Otherwisw we'd have o start talking about a v shape recovery which is always a bit sketchy.

Someone just paid a bit of a premium for only a handful of shares. 8019 bought at 162.37 Also, DFS announced their trading statement this morning:- https://www.investegate.co.uk/dfs-furniture-plc--dfs-/rns/trading-statement/202007140700038818S/ ...which was met with, well, apathy from the market, the share price being up by less than 1%.

Took a few at 150p. Bit of a punt on there being a bit of pent up demand and hopefully lots of people fed up looking at, or sitting on, the same old sofa they have for the past X years! Also, not many foreign holidays, so maybe this could be the way they spend their "big ticket" cash? Wishful thinking? Possibly. Of course that all has to be set against a lot of people having had a dreadful time of it of late and that shouldn't be underestimated-also cash being a prisoner until some semblance of normality returns might be the watchword for many folk. Time will, as ever, tell but good fortune to all here regardless.

DFS was IC Tip of the Week. They like the idea that DFS will benefit from people working form home , spending more time at home and that there will be pent up demand for what they sell . I think that should read scross to SCS.

I've bought a few this morning. It just looks too cheap to me and hasn't really reacted that much to an improving situation unlike DFS (which I wouldn't invest in ) that has bounced back quite nicely. This stock has never been highly rated . It's always blighted by concerns over consumer confidence, Brexit, dificult end markets, house moves decreasing etc etc . add covid 19 and we are where we are . Here are some positives for me . SCS competes well and has a very slick business model. plenty of cash- they will survive business managers seem good , crystal clear thinking and information. It is all a bit of a grind but they are good at it and seem to be excellent at improving efficiency . They are outperfoming their rivals and gaining market share. Coming back from Covid could be swift and profitable .There is probably pent -up demand for a new sofa and some new flooring maybe. Some of what people are not spending on hols , flights , cinema, restauarants etc they can spend making their homes more comfortable. The share price is low even for SCS . . 80% of the shops are reopened. The stock overhang has been dealt with. the next bit of news will , hopefully , say something about decent sales etc and could spark a change of sentimnet . A final dividend of some sort would help . There are catalysts here so I have a price target of 200p.

From Today's Shares Mag... "Consumer stocks rally on lockdown easing hopes Airlines, retailers and leisure groups all surge as the UK looks to reopen ... ...In other company-specific retail news, sofa and carpets seller ScS (SCS) has announced a soft reopening of some stores. Shore Capital analyst Clive Back commented: ‘The whole country has experienced a traumatic period through the coronavirus crisis and within this context the British non-discretionary retail sector has also had to endure a major period of uncertainty, cost and challenge. ‘Sadly, we do not believe that all of the furniture and flooring stores trading in the UK prior to the coronavirus crisis will reopen, something that in a broader context leads us to have concerns about the short-to-medium term prospects for the British consumer economy. ‘Whilst this is so, ScS, with its excellent management, long-standing financial conservatism, strong balance sheet and operational effectiveness, was always towards the top of our survivors’ list for the post-lockdown domestic retail world.’"
