Brought a few more yesterday afternoon @ 1453 not many buy a the bottom or sell at the top. Long term happy with that + 6.5% divi. Red I think the marx brother's will destroy themselves. Next election campaign will be quite different front the last. 2 years time is my guess.

Prospects for the Marx Brothers, Corbyn and McDonnell, don't help.

The price was weak for a few days last week, and again today, because that is when gilt yields rose. SSE's yield is influenced by the competitive effect of gilt yields.

Bonkers, you get market moves, sector moves and individual share price moves. Mostly people only talk about the individual share price. But if the market is down, the share price is likely to be down, and if the sector becomes out of favour, or in favour, then the price will change then too - all with the individual company prospects staying the same.

Your guess is as good as anyone elses as to why the price goes up and down. I'd say high divi lower risk shares have been out of favour recently due to the possibilty of higher interest rates.

Bountyhunter,

So any thoughts, also with the pending dividend, on why the price weakness last couple of days, albeit relatively slight?

Likely price drop on x-dividend date?

Not an expert investor by any means but with the pending dividend and recent reduced political risk, say for the next 12 months or so, would seem current price is quite a good bet. Hence in for a few more myself thank you very much.

Bonkers3 This one has tendancy to go as low as 1438 in the past apart from price cap conservative manifesto when it drop to 1400and below up to 1380 appx.Another thing i heard on tv that people r buying 20 yrs bond with yield of 2.2%. As tax bill might not pass as early as market anticipated.

30 year gilt yield has risen 10% in the last two days - 1.66% to 1.83%. Yield assets are realigning capital values to match.
