12/5/2021 21:48 | Starting to look like rocketblasts initial call of significant correction in the Nasdaq might have been right after all .. | hartleyjr1
12/5/2021 11:53 | For me trying to beat the market is more risk than its worth. Having been in since 2007 I'm comfortably compounding and confident that if I leave it will continue to. No need to overcomplicate life. | dexter1612
12/5/2021 10:30 | @rocketblast - talk about bipolar! @dexter. I think I'd turn the question on its head - given SMT has had a range of 950p-1400p in the past 3 months alone, why wouldn't you trade it rather than just HODL. | hartleyjr1
12/5/2021 09:07 | SMT will now bounce back as FED highlight that they are not concerned about short term inflation due soon. Now its a question of Catch Me If You Can at this huge discounted prices. I for one am filling my boots at these give away prices. | rocketblast
12/5/2021 07:31 | Quite a bit of the fall can be attributed to the discount opening up again to c6%. At those levels, they might well start buying back shares, just as they issued them at slight premiums. But perhaps they will just wait to see if NASDAQ settles a bit. | 18bt
11/5/2021 22:27 | the proactive article is confusing - is the verdict positive on smt or not? | ali47fish
11/5/2021 21:55 | Proactive article today on SMT - Scottish Mortgage suffers a few slings and arrows 2021-05-11 13:16:00 | basstrend
11/5/2021 21:44 | I am long term holder of SMT. This has grown so much recently that it was by far my largest holding and I felt I was over exposed. I have used the price drop to take some risk off the table and invest it elsewhere. I still have exactly the same number of shares now as I did on Monday morning. | donald t
11/5/2021 21:13 | Thanks for the reply area,Of course, totally understand your process and I'm sure it can possibly be efficient and cost effective than a more passive, long, invester. It's just sounds like a lot of time consuming work! | dexter1612
11/5/2021 20:50 | can still be a long term holder and decide to sell whwn nasdaq falls sharply and buy back at a lower leveldexter1612 Could do it by continuing to hold but doing a short term short using a CFD or spreadbet. The profit made can be aaid to be cutting holding cost of your investment. I do this at times and usually it works out well . sorry if I mentioined this earlier . nasdaq has recovered a bit today anyway and SMT should open flat on wednesday unless nasdaq futures changes a lot after 9pm | arja
11/5/2021 17:55 | Serious question to the regulars who only appear when this share price drops. Are you day traders, short term investors that trade in SMT because it tracks the Nasdaq (losely)?SMT is a long term growth investment so any fluctuations in share price are not only expected but predictable. You are investing in the quality of fund manger, proven ability to stock pick the small number of companies that will contribute to the most returns in a given index. Its an unqualified success by any measurement.Always open to different opinions, it just seems like a real lack of understanding about the trust itself. | dexter1612
11/5/2021 17:02 | Either that or the Priti Patel school of maths. I don't think Abbott is our only innumerate politician. | hartleyjr1

11/5/2021 15:31 | So rocketblast you've moved from 'this is going below 1000p, could go to 800p" to topping up at 'such a low price' (1050p) and feeling it's going to fly up like a rocket in the space of a few hours... Okaaay | hartleyjr1
11/5/2021 15:18 | Oh your back....grimace. | dexter1612
11/5/2021 15:05 | I topped up aswell | donald t
11/5/2021 15:04 | Yeb i have also topped up at such a low price. Will top up again but these lows may not be seen again so i will hedge a rise in the making...looks like this is the higher low so upwards from here towards a higher high. Can move up like a Rocket . | rocketblast
11/5/2021 15:00 | Hope so I topped up! :) | tscole70
11/5/2021 14:44 | some rally after nasdaq physical opened and wonder if the suddenly bullish mood will continue through the session ! | arja
11/5/2021 13:59 | ( wry smile ) | sentimental rules
11/5/2021 13:58 | but CFDs have worked well for me over the years but have not made a fortune and only suffer a loss when I occasionally lose discipline apart from minor losses at times of course . good luck | arja
11/5/2021 13:55 | thanks for info hartley . I know the feeling as IG closed me out on a currency trade . gbp/aud when I held overnight and a massive spike happened when I was fast asleep which reversed by end of night ( fat finger of a trader ) . Ruthless sods as I was almost covered with funds in account and being about 200 short cost me about 6000 quid ! ( wry smile ) . I very rarely keep an FX position overnight since () smile ) . | arja
11/5/2021 13:55 | Not long to wait 1000 soon so how much below as Froth is still there. | rocketblast
11/5/2021 13:45 | Hi arja I don't have a spreadbetting / CFD a/c any more (lost £10K on SB back in 2009 and vowed never to go near it again - the transaction risk is huge a& there's no regulation obviously) so I'm limited to the STSL 1x short Tesla for exposure - it's frustrating as I've been short Tesla since 820. They don't let you have leverage in the short, just the long (you can get 1x long or 3x long ETP). So it's a fairly low-octane way to make a bit of money if you think Tesla's going to keep dropping, but without the anxiety of margin calls from CFDs / spread-betting. | hartleyjr1
11/5/2021 13:42 | hartley, thanks but I only have a funded CDF account . I assume the ETFs give extra leverage and your profit is enhanced but loss too if get it wrong ? | arja |
