Tesla down 7% pre-market. STSL (1x Tesla short ETF) is a nice play if you think that it's going to keep falling to, say.... $420 ;-)

yes , I hate this algo trading system as even my small order placed on L2 ticket
disrupts the market if not a high volume blue chip. It means not being ablwe to bid between spread normally although I can place an RSP order and they sometimes give a fair price between spread ./ we will know after 2.30pm how nasdaq will perform as it hovers around 13200 level at present .

Nasdaq looking to fall not good for SMT now set for NOV low levels. This week will be a huge shock for SMT.

@steeplejack - well said - automated trading, derivatives, FOMO / FUD combined with the complete wildcard of how much more sovereigns have got up their sleeve before causing a total collapse of the system - it's totally different to the sort of punting we knew in the 1990s and most of the 2000s... I agree that the money flowing into crypto in search of that cherry on the top of returns borne out of too much phoney liquidity knocking about is a tell.

@sf5 - yes, but obviously a lot of the Chinese tech stocks have listing on NASDAQ too - so it becomes a reinforcing process to some extent. My hypothesis is that ARK ETF / Tesla have been stupidly overvalued for far too long - if these come off given how high profile they are (and large) it causes a reappraisal of tech in general. We saw with GOOG / FB / Amazon results - beat expectations but it still wasn't enough. The only thing that makes me hesitate about calling a 15-20% correction is that TINA (there is nothing else) - unless you go cyclicals, but obviously that's not without high geopolitical risk / pandemic mutation risk with reopenings...

Cash for me for now - finding markets very hard to read. We have J-POW / Fed on the one hand talking about higher rates to combat inflation, and on the other hand printing trillions. It's total schizophrenic behaviour - they really appear to have totally bought into the myth of MMT.

I'm not an expert but for me is more about a correction in price for overvalued tech stocks. If anything some of the Chinese stocks are currently undervalued and represent an opportunity.

Isn't it more the very high % in China Tech that is making this fall so sharply - see [...] Not a Nasdaq tracker in my view.

hoping 13150 was the bottom and will rally towards the 13400 level .closed my short at 13164 ! edging up and hope it does not get hit again by a wave of sellers !!

If you think that , you should be shorting the nasdaq with a spreadbet or a CFD as hedge or partial hedge as I am doing but looking to close out soon as the nas can move quickly when it turns .

Look at the chart it shows lower high and will test lower low at 1000. This is Frothy. And it would not surprise me that 800 is also tested. So many hyped techs in SMT. Also SMT have a new manager making the wrong moves and panicking.

yes , the tech trusts have fallen more in % terms than the index but I assume the selloff is because further falls in nasdaq are expected and sentimment has turned . But markets often surprise us and the nasdaq can turn around suddenly - hope so !

According to HL, NASDAQ dropped by 2.5% yesterday, yes it dropped but I would hardly call that a "crash"!A bit of wild sensationalism and negative spin on here I think!

stronger cable is the other thing to factor into it . nasdaz futures fell more overnight but looks to me as if it is quite near chart support and might recover soon

Yes i do and NASDAQ crashes nearly 3% today so SMT should also crash this week. I did say i was watching for 1100 to break down with 1000 being tested. Even then i may buy or wait and see what next....NASDAQ CRASHES nearly 3% TODAY...SMT is now in trouble...i remain on sidelines until SMT is cheap to buy..
