It was fascinating to listen to Tom Slater talking in a recent interview about the coming era of the all-electric flying car and ScoMo's unlisted investments in this field with Joby Aviation and Lilium:-

uapatel- Thank you for your response which is much appreciated. I stress that BG are well regarded and respected and if there ever is such an issue to which I allude then I would rather be in their hands than many others. Good luck for the future.

ianood,

Clearly your financial knowledge and experience is way beyond mine, I’m just a retired Architect, so only the financial knowledge of an average PI (at best). Thankyou for taking time to clarify your concerns.

Wish you well in what ever option you take.

As predicted, massive jump in (cum par) NAV today to 880p , from prior day's 854p.

NAV up 26p or 3%.

Interestingly, the share price only moved up by 6p, being 0.7%

uapatel - I must admit to having happily held SMT up until the start of this week! I have huge respect for B.G and accept their positive approach to revals of unquoted stocks.
I also, for a living, used to run a multi billion $ investment grade, senior debt fixed interest fund for a bank. We had a rigid revaluation process prescribed by the main Board with full time valuation employees monitoring the process which worked >99% of the time. However, during the worst of the Financial Crisis 2007/2008 it was impossible to obtain a price for anything other than AAA/AA rated Govies with US Investment Bank paper being impossible to price unless they were capable of being repo'd straight out to a Central Bank with whom you had bilateral lines. Having seen that occur for a period of time I cannot bring myself to trust any unquoted share price reval methodology. The Woodford/Link comment was really a tongue in cheek comment, however, the possibility of a current market "blow off" frightens me and now you know why!

SMT is a 10B Mcap trust in the Ftse 100. Be careful in comparing Woodford equity income funds with their open ended structure to an investment trust.

Non listed companies, from the annual report.

.... The Managers recently reminded shareholders of the fair valuation process for the unlisted assets, as part of their wider Insight piece ‘Staying the Course for Scottish Mortgage’ available on the website. It is also summarised in every Annual Report. The policy was consistently applied throughout the year and as a result, additional valuation meetings were held in relation to a significant number of these holdings in March, in swift response to the large swings in public markets’ prices. The policy therefore helps to ensure that the published NAVs for Scottish Mortgage remain reflective of the prices one might expect to achieve for all the assets in the portfolio at that point.

“Staying the Course for Scottish Mortgage.”

Hope this helps

With the massive move in Tesla yesterday by PLUS 13% - which is by far ScoMo's biggest holding- combined with several other healthy gains yesterday in their Top 10 portfolio, expecting to see a significant SURGE in today's NAV announcement.

Tesla announces 5 for 1 share split w.e.f. 31/8

Shares rose some 6-8% in post-market trading

Nothing fundamental has changed but the Tesla share split may encourage more trading in the stock by making unit size/cost cosmetically smaller.

Zillow is held in EWI not in SMT, although it may well be held in a few other BG funds/trusts.

Holding here will continue to build position. Strong fund managers and amazing performance. Love key stocks but have a look at Tesla and Zillow. Buying on weakness. Expecting US market to fall short term.

Hi QuePassa,
Thanks for your updates. Please forgive the sucker question; I’m very at the other end of the spectrum of expertise from yourself.
What is the extent of SMTs interest in Zillow?

Zillow going ballistic in today's session.

Reminds me of Amazon which for so many was never taken seriously by the markets.

The rest is history.
