It depends on what your aim is ... short term, no one knows, long term, i.e. 10 years or more ... this is likely to be higher than present. I have several grandchilderen with small holdings in this and MNKS. Happy to hold for the long term.

I would not be surprised if this Trust falls in price if there is a recession, the valuation of their listed companies is extremely high. I certainly would not buy in at the current price, especially as we are well overdue for a down turn in most leading economies.

Scottish Mortgage is the largest investment trust on the market, at nearly £7bn of net assets and has a very distinctive approach. The managers (James Anderson and Tom Slater) emphasise taking a long term view, and employ a concentrated global portfolio of stock picks. I hope the BBC and Sky both play the FULL TAPES on prime time TV so that members of the voting public can hear first hand what Jonathan Ashworth feels and says about the Labour party, Labour's chances and their Leader. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP

Woud trust bookies more than the Pollsters, but anything could still happen when people go into their booths with a stumpy pencil

Issued at a significant discount on the HK Exchange this Tuesday compared to the price of its existing US ADR listing, Alibaba has now surged 16% in HK in just 3 days and is now at a PREMIUM to the US listing. The New York ADR's have since also risen 5% to US$201 - nearly equalling its all-time-high. The question remains as to what Baba plans to do with the new $11bn it raised from selling equity in Hong Kong. This is on top of its existing massive $33bn cash pile. A potential purse of $44bn++ could buy Baba a lot of goodies and gives the company phenomenal room for investment, expansion and growth. With so much money.....who or what might they be tempted to buy? ALL IMO. DYOR. QP

Inditex don't sign a lease for longer than 6 months. If you want them you have to accept their terms. Something I picked up from Shroeder Europe Real Estate reports.

Once much vaunted by ScoMo as a core holding. Inditex May 2017 Euro 36 Today Euro 28 disappointing performance. one of the problems facing Inditex is the INCREASING GLOBAL FOOTPRINT of DIGITAL SHOPPING and Inditex is a major bastion of global high-street shopping at a time when high street shops are increasingly in decline. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP

Never ceases to amaze me that ScoMo never had a portfolio holding of PayPal. An obvious choice perhaps.... November 2016 $40. November 2019 $110.

I wish the directors would get off the fence and say what they really think ;-) "We are emphatically optimistic about the aggregate and underlying progress of our companies and therefore our portfolio. We see no evidence that the dim global economic conditions or the unappealing international political environment are undermining the tectonic shifts and structural advances driven by broadening and accelerating technological progress. We look forward to putting this case to investors in the months and years ahead"
