Very good results and a positive outlook from JDG this morning, which should reflect well on SDI's prospects.

This paragraph has some read-across:

"The underlying market for scientific instruments remains robust and the sector's long-term growth drivers provide comfort that the Group will continue to deliver durable returns for shareholders despite, as we have observed since 2014, the potential for some short-term variability in performance. Long-term market drivers are rooted in the global expansion of higher education and the need for improved measurement to support the relentless worldwide search for optimisation across science and industry"

Not aware of any write up other than John Rosier's comments in the IC.Probably a combination of that alongside an increasing awareness of the company.I'm sure I'm not alone in concluding that SDI can really go a long way in the coming years.

Squirrel Monkeys and Macaques have caught CWD ... Humans cases are next

This excerpt below is taken from the:

USA Government Agency named , Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

''The CWD prion has been shown to experimentally infect squirrel monkeys, and also laboratory mice that carry some human genes.

An additional study begun in 2009 by Canadian and German scientists, which has not yet been published in the scientific literature, is evaluating whether CWD can be transmitted to macaques—a type of monkey that is genetically closer to people than any other animal that has been infected with CWD previously.

On July 10, 2017, the scientists presented a summary of the study’s progress (access the recorded presentationExternalExternal and slides Cdc-pdf[PDF 3.88MB]External), in which they showed that CWD was transmitted to monkeys that were fed infected meat (muscle tissue) or brain tissue from CWD-infected deer and elk.

Some of the meat came from asymptomatic deer that had CWD (i.e., deer that appeared healthy and had not begun to show signs of the illness yet).

Meat from these asymptomatic deer was also able to infect the monkeys with CWD. CWD was also able to spread to macaques that had the infectious material placed directly into their brains.''

Now that last sentence above means that a surgical instrument with CWD protein residue on it can transmit the CWD prion disease from one patient to another, particularly in a neurological surgical or eye surgery procedure .

....... ProReveal : why it will be needed in the USA ........

This USA video link below is only a few weeks old, it has been released by

The House Environment and Natural Resources Finance Division
University of Minnesota presentation:
Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD)

buywell notes:

Chronic Wasting Disease ... is a prion disease like BSE in cattle is.

Lethal in all cases , no cure and highly transmissible.

In the video mistakes, omissions and misquotes have been made by some experts which I find truly worrying.

Note that the FDA never gets a mention and neither does the Federal Government except one expert admits that the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has bailed out of the problem , no funding left , and that it has been kicked down to the USA States themselves to sort out.

NO Test equipment exists that can detect CWD in a live animal

NO Test equipment exists that can detect CWD presence on uncooked meat

NO Test equipment exists that can detect CWD presence in meat processing facilities

The upshot from the video was $1.8M has been funded to make a piece of test equipment , this may take up to 2 years to do.

When you watch the video which is a long one 1hr 26 mins , you will come to realize that the USA has a MASSIVE problem on its hands.

The American public remain in the dark about CWD IMO , around 99% of them would not be able to tell you what it is or how it started , like those on the Video.

I predict the entire population of white tailed deer and ALL Cervid species will have to be eradicated before this CWD epidemic is halted

Then the soil will have to be cleaned ... everywhere the infected deer, elk, moose, and caribou have walked. ..... which of course is IMPOSSIBLE to do.

The cat is out of the bag

Which is why USA Joe Public is being kept in ignorance to avoid ........ PANIC

Anyone that thinks I am exaggerating check out the 50% CWD incidence in the state of Wyoming

Once more some dodgy comments made eg a vaccine for the problem , not dangerous to humans

buywell has spread the word about this company

It is now no longer AIM's best kept secret anymore ... I hope you fund managers selling SDI recently approve ?

SDI action positive after the 50ma crossover of the 100ma now looks a done deal

50ma now going to attack the 200ma as before it has done so ... Twice

This is the next leg up IMO so this time will make it .... Thrice

All this needs SDI BoD is one positive RNS next week

50p will surely follow and we are on our way to a quid

Gosh - my assertion that SDI could be priced closer to 50 than 45 has been beaten by two full trading weeks! Have I suddenly gained the Midas touch or was it just so screamingly obvious it didn't really need saying. In the tradition of a full on ramper (which I am not) I will go a bit further and suggest that this share could easily get to 55p and not be particularly cheap. I think this target will take a little longer to reach though but steady progress throughout the year would be appreciated. My the volume of trading long continue! Fils

Still looking at the cash flow conversion here, it's still hard pushed to find much in small caps offering this level of value in terms of cash generation. Expecting a trading ahead of expectations update in May IMO

John Rosier has just bought SDI in his portfolio (as of yesterday) - I assume some of this buying comes from his followers....

"I added a new holding to the portfolio: Scientific Digital Imaging (SDI). SDI designs and manufactures scientific and technology products for use in the life science, healthcare, astronomy and consumer manufacturing markets. It is pursuing a ‘buy and build’ strategy. Ultimately, I am backing the management to add shareholder value through sensibly priced acquisitions.

The latest example was the acquisition of Graticules last month. SDI paid £3.4m free of cash and debt, which represented 1.8 times 2018 sales and 5.8 times earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda). Graticules, based in Tonbridge, applies chemical etchings and micro patterns to glass, film and metal foil, serving, amongst others, the microscopy, metrology and defence markets. Graticules fits SDI’s model of buying companies that are niche players with decent growth prospects, good cash flow and a direct relationship with its customers.

FinnCap expects the deal to be 6.0 per cent accretive in the year ending April 2020. It has the smallest market capitalisation of any of my holdings at just £40m, but the management has big ambitions for the company, and I expect it to be a lot larger in a few years’ time."

Put simply.

14.1x rolling 12 month forward earnings, scope for upgrades for that as this year's forecasts still look conservative, and then still scope for earnings enhancing acquisitions on top

All lines up nicely. Could easily add another 1.5 turns to the P/E multiple before any potential EPS upgrades.

The Chart of SDI is looking very tasty just now and the recent rise is IMO just the start of another leg up following the recent two tasty acquisitions that should add between them over 3M in turnover and over 1M in profits in the 12 months following the last acquisition date.

Both were making decent profits before they were acquired , both will benefit from X selling opportunities within the ever growing SDI Group of companies

Let me explain about this , because I think some advfn folks can't understand how this works

SDI's ATIK Cameras sells some cameras to SDI's Synoptics

SDI's ATIK books the trade , turnover rises and profits rise.

SDI's Synoptics then uses the cameras it bought from SDI's ATIK ( which are better quality/equal quality than that of any other provider at the price that SDI's Synoptics will pay SDI's ATIK ie a special mates price.

SDI's Synoptics then uses the cameras to incorporate them is new ranges of Scientific Instruments it is developing and selling for the life science research, microbiology and healthcare markets and ADD value to the cameras bought through the enhanced price of a completely new and different product.

Then we will IMO see an acceloration of sales/turnover/profits from these two acquisitions over the following 12 months and beyond due to

A) Cross Selling to NEW clients that already buy from Scientific Digital Imaging

B) The improvement of existing products and development of new products that SDI themselves know will sell well to existing and NEW clients and Distributors that will be brought into the SDI Group by the new acquisitions themselves.

C) IMO all of the acquisitions make want to grow and have great ideas about how to do that BUT lack the cash and confidence to do so. Many are owned by elder Gents who have built a successful profitable business but need an SDI to help them do that.

Enough of the words ... lets look at a picture

The rise today coincided with the 50ma (red) kissing the 100ma (purple) as the 50ma moves to the upside

IMO the 50ma will now complete the cross and rise further towards the 200ma

If you look back on the chart you will see exactly this same action started very early in 2018.

It is also exactly the same action that started in mid 2016

buywell predicts yet another leg up for SDI is underway DESPITE Miton and Octopus being sellers

Do those guys do charts ?

There have/has been buyers/a buyer of the SDI shares that they sold BUT to date we don't know who.

I also will show my nuts on here if this is not over 50p before this xmas

IMHO we are now assured based upon recent acquisitions and updates

The next set of full year results is going to be a RECORD

Then because of the timing of the last acquisition, and the one before it

The year after that is going to be even BETTER

Does that set everybody's mind at ease ?

Some of the Institutions have been in SDI for yonks

It's their call but IMO they are leaving just when SDI is gaining critical mass in that nearly all of the parts of the Group if not ALL sell to each other ...ADD value ... and then sell on to a client

The name of Scientific Digital Imaging must now be being heard and many different parts of the world

Momentum in turnover and profits is building.

I expect a RNS soon to tell us who has been taking a decent sized wedge of the SDI pie
I think I know who it is.

And pshevlin the volumes traded and the liquidity of SDI shares is getting better and better week after week. The volumes traded in January were astounding I'm surprised there hasn't been more RNS about major shareholdings declining or building. I'm not a traditionally one for ramping a share but i do agree with Buywell in that I think this share deserves to be closer to 50 than 40 and I think it will by by the end of the month with it being the close of the tax year. It is a good long term ISA share if the SDI board continue their careful acquisition strategy and maintain the organic growth rate. Fils

No idea why Miton are selling, but had a good run of late, so profit taking to be expected.

Good value up to 45-50p for me, based on current prospects, with plenty more to come on a longer term view.

Miton selling down - Now below 3% as of 7th March - Interesting - Do they thing now over valued? or do they need to raise funds? MINI have been a significant under-performer in the last 6 months. Could it be that they want to lock in their profits here? If they are still in the sell down mode still a lot to go. Thoughts?
