55p within 12 months , no problem .... the SDI BOD have proven themselves to be astute pickers of profitable small caps that 'fit' the overall Group strategy for growth.

However with the share price now at 40p again after Miton has sold a few,

A bid for SDI coming in now would most likely be at 60p

For example if ProReveal now took off BIGTIME in the NHS , and the USA started to buy in reasonable quantities OR

The new refrigeration units currently being trialed by Siemens and others prove to be a success, then a predator might bite.

Had some time to spend establishing a target here now. Had done enough research to think there was good upside, but had to rush and buy on the dip before could build a model out. Thinking around 55p here within 12 months is fair contingent on 2 acquisitions of moderate size

With these testimonials SDI are now getting from NHS Trusts

Proving that ProReveal is lowering the amount of residual protein on surgical instruments in line with DoH HTM 01-01

Together with the identification of areas within the washing/decontamination processes that required improvements

Together with cost saving benefits eg ''we’re saving a huge amount of money quarterly by not outsourcing our testing and not buying swab kits''

I can only think that Mr Hunt should look at ensuring such savings and improvements are rolled out nationally by means of introducing a '' implementation of best practices'' across all NHS trusts.

This could include the setting up of a National NHS Supplies buying unit , as Trusts are wasting £Billions of paying vastly different sums of money for the same or similar products.

ProReveal as I understand it , is the only commercially available piece of test equipment that satisfies HTM 01-01

Mr Hunt should look also closely at reducing the £ Billions that the NHS are paying out against legal claims for negligence.

The spread of disease on unsuspecting NHS patients , by the use of dirty surgical instruments , contaminated by protein residue , is included in such claims.

I look forwards to the next results ... perhaps next week

I also look forwards to see who the next SDI acquisition will be , soon after.

Pleasing to see SDI starting to move back up once more.

A few of us experienced investors here took a hit on LPA this morning that was both unexpected and bad luck. Luckily i only held a small position in LPA but nevertheless a thumping loss is always hard to mentally deal with however it happens.

Hopefully SDI will more than make up for our losses elsewhere today.

ProReveal Testimonial - Derriford Hospital, Plymouth

"We installed the ProReveal in 2017 as we wanted a quantitative in situ method of measuring proteins to comply with new HTM 01-01 recommendations. We have been using the test for several months now and are seeing that the protein on our surgical instruments has gone from an average of 2.5 µg per side of the instrument to 1.4 µg. This is because the ProReveal has helped us identify areas where we can improve the decontamination process.”

“The benefit of using this type of technology is that it has changed the way we test so we’re saving a huge amount of money quarterly by not outsourcing our testing and not buying swab kits. Additionally, we don’t have to wait 30 days for test results, we can have them instantly. We are very happy with our ProReveal, it is reliable, easy to use and is saving us money while helping us monitor and improve our processes.”

Cashew or pecan?

In all seriousness though, no rush for this to re-rate as long as the story is good. Gives more time to accumulate a larger position if things becoming tempting enough

If this isn't posting £3m plus profits by finals end june/1st week july 2021 ie in 3 years time

I will post a picture of my nuts here.

WHY has ADVFN got no P/E or EPS numbers in the header

And why have others not put this right ?

Put it right ... and the numbers will attract the new investors to put SDI at 68p by said date ... assuming they have not been acquired themselves

Even better then. Higher accretion comes from debt funded deals :0) and I was figuring in a decent 15% discount to any raises.

Welcome..but FWIW I believe mgt has indicated that fresh equity issuance is unlikely unless an exceptional & large opportunity presents, their recent £3m HSBC + £2m accordion bank facility is the ammunition they’re using going forward.

England :0) !

Good evening fellas, especially Rivaldo (haven't seen the same opportunity at some of your holdings)!

Delighted to say that I've joined you in here having accumulated a position on Friday and today. I think this is now looking a much better business than when I looked at 15p a while ago. Sure, I've missed out on a 150% return, but the risk/reward now is far more appealing to me.

16-17x earnings, great operating momentum. More importantly, some very interesting looking products at a couple of the businesses (cross-checked by a high-level industry distributor for one of these in particular). I've done some calcs and reckon that each £2 - 4m acquisition, 50:50 debt to equity funded could be 5-15% accretive depending on the exact terms, assuming 8x post tax acq multiple and 5% interest cost.

To get to SDI, I scanned 40 small cap companies. No mean feat, but this one came on top out of all 40 as being the most interesting (in my book anyway), so into the portfolio it goes!

Looking forward to contributing to discussion going forward :0)

Currently there are around 50 NHS Endoscopy Decontamination jobs being advertised on this website

Makes me think that the NHS is gearing up to improve Endoscope cleaning procedures

Australia has done this :

The state of Queensland in Australia seems to have adopted both the use of Enzymatic detergent for cleaning purposes and also the use of Ultrsonics for endoscopes

ENZYME SOLUTIONS
Enzymatic detergents are the preferred detergents for use in cleaning flexible endoscopes and their accessories. The enzymes promote protein lysis and enhance the efficacy of brushing and flushing.

ULTRASONIC CLEANING
Ultrasonic cleaners do not disinfect instruments. They are used to assist with the cleaning of instruments that cannot be adequately cleaned manually such as spiral wound instruments like biopsy forceps.

Ultrasonic vibration at the frequency used for cleaning does not kill microorganisms and infective aerosols may be produced. It is for this reason that the lid of the tank must be tightly closed during operation.

Ultrasonic cleaners work by subjecting instruments to high frequency, high-energy sound waves. This causes the soil to be dislodged from instruments and drop to the bottom of the tank, or be sufficiently loosened that it will be removed during the rinsing process.

The detergent used in the ultrasonic tank must be carefully selected in accordance with advice from the tank's manufacturer. Optimally it will be a neutral, low-foaming product and enzymatic cleaners will have enhanced benefits in this process.

As the price has drifted back after increasing following the upbeat trading update in April I have added to my holdings this week. Results are due next month which are likely to be rather strong, revenues ahead of expectation and along with reduced tax charge and increased R&D credits is a strong combination.

This company reminds me of an early stage Judges Scientific (JDG)

We seem to be in a share price drift downwards phase on very little activity. I suspect this will be the case until we hear of the next acquisition. We've been put on notice there is likely to be another one. Fils

Alphasonics utilises ProReveal

Cambridge, UK: Synoptics Health, a manufacturer of innovative digital imaging systems for healthcare applications, today announced that Alphasonics, a premier supplier of advanced ultrasonic cleaning systems is utilising the ProReveal, an accurate test to detect proteins on surgical instruments, to optimise the performance of its new Medstar ultrasonic cleaning systems. This will in future provide professionals working in sterile services departments (SSDs) with ultrasonic technology plus a validation procedure that delivers the ultimate in cleaning capabilities that will enable full compliance with the new HTM 01-01 guidelines.

The highly sensitive ProReveal in-situ fluorescence test’s unique ability to detect nanogram levels of protein on surgical instruments is being used at Alphasonics to detect how much protein the soon to be introduced Medstar range of advanced ultrasonic cleaning systems removes from calibrated Edinburgh soil, baked on pig brain, as well as other standards. Since ProReveal provides quantitative data on residual protein, Alphasonics’ experts can determine how altering ultrasonic frequencies and system construction directly impacts the amount of protein that remains after cleaning, thus making designing optimum parameters for maximum protein removal a quicker and more precise task.

David Jones, Managing Director at Alphasonics stated: “We have been developing ultrasonic cleaning systems since 1993 and have realised that our unique, advanced technology could be used effectively for removing protein from surgical instruments. We took advice from hospital decontamination experts and invested in a ProReveal test to help validate our developments because this test is considered the gold standard for accurate protein detection.”

Jones added: “Since installing the ProReveal, we have run over 1000 Edinburgh soil and baked on pig brain tests to assess a range of different parameters that affect ultrasonic cleaning. Using the ProReveal we have been able to refine our ultrasonic technology to reduce the amount of residual protein from over 20 micrograms to less than 0.5 micrograms per test soil. We could not have achieved this without using the ProReveal for instant and sensitive cleaning validation.”

Guy Fiddian, of SDI’s Synoptics Health concluded: “Alphasonics’ Medstar advanced ultrasonic cleaning systems are revolutionary products and we’re delighted that ProReveal’s robust performance validation has assisted in their development. ProReveal and advanced ultrasonic cleaning are now the perfect partnership of decontamination and validation technologies and will significantly improve the way surgical instruments are cleaned and their cleanliness validated forever.”
