DL: it looks to me that DSM sold their stake and now own zero shares?

Are you still in here ?

I keep having a look, but the constant emphasis on revenue growth and market share has put me off a bit and wondering at what point are questions going to be answered (or asked) about whether they actually have a business that will generate PBT. ie. does scale improve the prospects ?

I notice the flow of new products contributing to growth and wonder if that's going to be a constant requirement in this market and therefore a constant cost.

It does seem an active takeover market - I wonder if significantly larger groups make clean profit out of nutrition, or whether the takeovers are more of a strategic move, to liven up commodity businesses (ABF).

I guess if the ingredients are made by the acquiring group, then that margin goes straight to the bottom line.

Good to see DSM Ventures taking a stake in this.... maybe been given the nod (given closeness of bedfellows) things are going in the right direction?

Cynically,

Positive write-up in this week's Shares mag for SIS off the back of last week's results also highlighting this as a potential takeover opportunity.

I only have a few of these (bought in a last placing for the EIS tax breaks, but was scaled back significantly), but I must go along to the AGM this year. The Chairman, John Clarke, was my bosses, bosses boss at GSK, so it will be a nice for me to be asking the questions for a change, rather than vice versa.

Indeed that's the scenario we all hope plays out here.

Primark and British Sugar owner ABF is attempting a £60m health kick after buying two sports nutrition companies favoured by muscle men and marathon runners.

The FTSE 100 company has snapped up Reflex Nutrition, which sells tubs of protein supplements online, and High 5, which produces energy gel sachets for athletes on the go.

Note to self: Purchase price of Reflex Nutrition is at 4X annual sales (SIS sales currently £12m p/a and growing, market cap £36m)

As long as you accept the premise of this company is not to make money but to grow sales as quickly as they think they can and then be bought out at a multiple of sales then these are good numbers. If you want them to make some money they are now forecasting a large loss next year than this with increased marketing spend. I am in for the multiple of sales story so 30% growth is the key number for me. The plan is not without risk though

Indeed I topped up with a few thousand on Friday. Does anyone have a view why the share price has been weak over the last few weeks?

I'm not into cycling but I know Cav is known for sprint finishes and not long distance. Maybe he's put himself in the pack with a finishing line in sight...

Well he's put in a six figure sum so some confidence, I'd like to know what price he invested.

I've just invested a small amount here - made it move down a penny! Good start!
As a cyclist I'm very aware of the SIS brand.

One thing I'm certain of, is that SiS is an extreme originator or litter. I see so many empty SiS packages scattered on the roads and footpaths. There's got to be some minor regulatory risk in this regard.
