Too often re arrange deck/musical chairs...so what happens to the old management team?...they walk with golden goodbyes is a normal practise with Plc casino markets...if a shop floor employee doesn't perform he/she should also get a golden goodbyes...make that normal practise...

Being Cynical. ..I suppose intangible assets are the amount of air a company owns

Nice to see people taking notice of tangible asset values

I always ignore intangibles

Because I am a deep value investor and that’s the only way for me

Looked at Capita today but did not buy in as balance sheet shows a whopping £2.8Bn in intangibles/goodwill. Take them out and net assets are -£2.3Bn with short term debt of £2.4Bn. Last year Capita's profit was just £40M.

Point is eastbourne you were comparing AA to Saga. Yes intangibles/goodwill for both are on the higher side but AA has equity of -£2Bn and taking out all intangibles/goodwill leaves net assets of -$3.2Bn.

Saga +£1.2Bn and even taking out all intangibles/goodwill (give them a value of zero if you like) leaves -£300M as of Jan 2017 which should be further improved come results in March by £100M-£150M. Cash at hand £110M, Gross annual profit £449M.

justiceforthemany....Most likely an institutional shareholder happy to supply the demand. Certainly the stockbrokers have to have a counterparty.

Capita crash wont have helped today. Parallels with a balance sheet in credit via intangibles.

justiceforthemany,

Regarding Saga's balance sheet, 1.5 billion of the supposed assets are intangible assets.

Who knows what those are worth if push came to shove.

Don't believe everything you see on a balance sheet.

eastbourne I don't like repeating myself. Do you think £3.2 BILLION pounds is a large sum? That is the difference between the two balance sheets. Do not compare the two.

No shorts showing on the FCA tracker
<0.5%
[AA has >8% shorts and has -£2Bn in negative equity; Saga +£1.2Bn; big difference]

East, you’re right but that requires honesty and being confident enough to put up with the short term grief. Not sure the management are strong enough to take the right actions. I’ve sold my entire holding to protect capital. Good luck to remaining holders, hope it works out

Sod dividends, cut them, reduce debt and rebuild the business, that is what I would do anyway.

ps. I don't hold any shares here.

If they had said the div would decrease, it would now be in even more trouble.
This share smells bad imo.

Shares moving into hands of shorters imo. Institutions allowing them access to their shares. This will keep falling as long as they keep allowing this.
