Cautious7 will have to ask Rupert. His view was this would occur either when growth starts again or, if that fails, when Elliot start to reorganise the company. My feeling is that the new strategies on insurance and travel, not forgetting all the other elements the company has a hand in, will lead to a great future and returns for investors.

Keeping share price suppressed before a bid aka. Greene King? Company is worth far more than 39p hence why Elliott bought in and why Setanta hold >11% now.

The article from Rupert Hargreaves sets out the position on Saga excellently. Basically, whatever the scenario, you can expect the share price to double.

Hi

Nothing in the press today as far as i can see - i guess everyone is out on a crusie enjying the thrills of being at the top and stuff the funders.

FYI i bought in around 42p as a pure gamble and will top up at a certain price and sell out at a certain price as i hold no faith in the BoD's and chums.

This post is aimed for any Eliott member of staff looking in -- if so pass it on

-----------------------------------------------------------

Since all recent posts here have been short , and UK markets closed today , grab yourself a cuppa and a biscuit and read this --- afterwards I would like posters that did --- let me know if they had ever heard of African Swine Fever (ASF)

------------------------------------------------------------

African Swine Fever (ASF) --- which buywell introduced to posters here a while back

Why? -- because it is a MACRO event that is and will continue to affect many different commodity markets as it has the capacity to ratchet up global inflation.

buywell said that this could turn into a $3 Trillion hit over the next 3 to 4 years
Or till a cure can be made if indeed one can as it now turns out various strains exist.

Some less gifted argued the case because they don't have the ability to think 'out of the box' ---- which buywell can do in spades. This is needed in making correct investment decisions ie GET THE MACROS RIGHT FIRST.
----------------------------------------------------------------

What caused ASF and why did it hit China so badly as it did ? -- spreading to every single province --- with HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF PIGS being culled --- yet the disease still persists and spreads to other counties around the world.

read this

Aug 26th 2019

------------------------------------------------------------------

buywell suspected that ASF could be weaponized as other animal based diseases have been in the past.

The problem is however that ASF is so dangerous because of its ability to exist and travel from country to country in so many forms and ways.

Air travel with passengers taking pork in various food products in their luggage through airports is one which is IMO virtually impossible to stop. Transport of live pigs is easier from country to country but not so easy within a country once infected.

The USA and China are in a trade war and this has been going on for years , ASF first appeared in China years ago. Like I said read the last link if you have not yet done so or the rest of this post will be lost on you.

Earlier this year in the USA this happened:

Last Friday China imposed circa $75 Billions of new tariffs on the USA and US market DJIA dropped around 2.37% on the day 623 points. Trump wants the FED to cut rates by 1% fast and the FED Chairman at the moment is not doing so.

The EU is set to drop rates, the US will soon follow that , and China is letting the Yuan slide lower = a currency war.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Back to ASF

Because of Air travel and sheer volumes of people travelling through congested airports , African Swine Fever continues to spread.

Now in the Phillipines , many countries in the EU , lots of countries in Asia , it is IMO simply a matter of time before countries which are Islands like Australia, New Zealand and England become infected by ASF.

Bio Security measures at Airports are just NOT going to be able to cope as they are largely human controlled .

Also the USA and then Canada will IMO also become infected with ASF if no vaccine is discovered to combat the VARIOUS strains that now exist.

Conclusion:

Add the above ASF problem together with the ARMY WORM problem which is currently devastating various crops in Asia , add these to current market weakness caused by trade and currency wars and the conditions for a new bear market to begin in the USA are IMO now very real.

I have mentioned DOW Theory as an imminent conformation of a USA recession , this could happen as early as today if the DOW Transports close just 1.5 points lower than they did on Friday.

Such a MACRO event should IMO give all posters on ADVFN reasons to consider their next actions very very carefully indeed.

Elliott getting in early doors and buying this have set themselves a bit of a problem IMO

As they might be tempted to keep buying around 40 to 43p to protect their original investment --- as they have lots of financial ammo.

Whereas IF they had waited for the US market deterioration to take place as buywell has been forecasting for the last several months , having correctly predicted the last slide going into xmas.

Then this share IMO could have been purchased at around 35p or less

Companies such as this are cheap as chips to the yanks at the moment.Someone will take a pop at them, and if they don't within the next 2-3 months they might just have missed their chance.
