Hi

Where is dear, Trev123????

Just learnt about 30 minutes ago I had a lucky escape when i bought some shares about 2/3 weeks ago. The brokers, SVS went under a few days ago and thousands are locked in, can't get their money out, and/or trade in their shares/portifolio.

I used to deal whit SVS about 4 years ago and when i tried to log back in a few weeks ago, they'd become SVS/XO whatever that meant and they could not located my joint account. As luck would have it I was looking up other brokers and recalled i had an account with HL and was able to locate password etc. That was a close call :(

Anyone here caught out with SVS or the one that went belly up last year forget their name.

Yes insofar as they said Elliot clearly thought the total of the individual parts of the company were worth more than the share price reflects at the moment

Very interesting discussion about Elliot on CNBC this morning and their strategies in investing in undervalued companies. They discussed Saga in detail.

It’s only loss making if you allow for the goodwill writedown from the balance sheet. Agreed, the anticipated fall in profits this financial year is substantial, but this is more than reflected in the current share price. If it beats expectations this year, the share price could rocket. Signs are the cruise business is going well and so is the insurance. Don’t think Elliot would be investing if there wasn’t a good chance of a significant recovery. Finally, re the debt, this seems under control and at least they have the capital assets which the debt has purchased.
