Shaker44 - it is a very valid question which Essentiallinvestor raises. It can't be ignored - even though I think the situation is more complex than first meets the eye. I can speculatively offer an answer - perhaps it is called Hedging their bets. The CEO and CFO may have no more idea than we do whether the market is in permanent decline or whether it will recover. Maybe selling a third of your shares means it is exactly that a hedge. Damage limitation - some cash whilst still retaining interest. Like top slicing only the reverse. FS

Who knows? Tax bill, family stuff etc. He retains a huge holding still. Not like he is bailing out. History tells us that director buys and sells are not great indicators.

shaker, why do you think a director is willing to sell at This level, following a very significant share price decline?.

We all make different assessments and mine is that all the negatives you cite are priced in and more. We will not know though until the next trading rns. I think sales and marketing May be the key, rather than price. We will see.

As an ex holder I see no particular reason to want to buy again for the foreseeable future, except perhaps for the yield. The market for windows is very competitive and I suspect many purchasers are unable to distinguish one company's offering from another's so price is key. If you intend to sell your house why pay more than absolutely necessary, you will be long gone if the windows turn out to be badly made or of limited durability. With incomes under pressure, BREXIT uncertainties, a subdued housing market and I suspect many window installers fighting to survive by offering cheap deals, the climate is not conducive to anyone prospering. That said, SFE is well placed to survive but I just don't see the share price making much headway until the economic outlook is more optimistic. The yield is good but one can find good yields elsewhere without the same business risk. I remain a watcher rather than a buyer even at this level.

I agree fill. And the share price is remarkably resilient after news of this sale and investors chronicles sell recommendation. I believe the market badly over reacted to the miniscule miss reported in the last rns.

Then again citytrader the CEO and Finance Officer have kept two thirds of their holdings. The financials for 2018 is expected to be similar to 2017 and the dividend is retained. This company is cash generative and they are not expecting to have to make any significant capital investment beyond the investment that has already taken place in the new factory. I think uPVC windows are far from a durable product - they are more like a consumable with a 15 to 20 year lifespan. The look of a house can still be dramatically improved by renewing the windows if you want to ready a house for sale. So whilst there may be a downturn in the market - I don't think the market has gone for good. It is not quite as clear cut as it looks to me. Why the 130p price target you have suggested? Fils

Another director sell announced from yesterday. The finance director's wife has sold 105,000 shares which equates to about a third of the Finance director's and his connected persons' cumulative holding. Isn't very confidence inspiring. Should we be following the directors to the exit? Fils

Very chunky. Surprised he was able to achieve 160. Thanks, I had missed that. Maybe he has tax bill, divorce settlement or....?

CEO disposed of 1.4 million shares at 1.60. His remaining holding is just under 2.8 million, even so a chunky sale imv.

On the basis of one bad fitter, avoid them? I don't think so!

My experience of the company is largely negative. OK product - but lousy installers. On our house to make the windows open easily the clown fitter decided to remove on 6 windows out of 12 the claw 'hooks' that secure the windows. Given they are not obvious I approved the installation and paid for the job completely unaware of this deliberate vandalism. I only realised what they had done when I found one of these cast metal 'hooks' under a bed. Sadly the cheques had cleared otherwise I would have seen them in court before they were paid in full. The attitude of the company was 'oh well these things happen'. IIRC they replaced the lock mechanisms to 10 openers!! Avoid them like the plague.

Fall in share price looks way overdone. The miss is very small and although cost of sales is disappointing, sfe is still cash generative and has market dominance. They should be Able to pick off weaker competitors to get more throughput for the new factory surely.

They are still a very profitable company. They have had a bad year. Not the end of the world. Will bounce back, but may take a year or two.
