14/1/2016 19:32 | A large "put-through" reported today, but actually traded lunchtime Wednesday, of 340,000 may have caused a ripple. The trade price of 363p was bang in the middle at the time, suggesting an in-house cross. A couple of blocks of 45,000 shares traded today, but that doesn't look to be related. So nothing obviously sinister. | coolen
14/1/2016 15:55 | One way or another, a great opportunity to top up (which I missed!) | eggbaconandbubble
14/1/2016 15:28 | Possibly tintin82 - but I think all stocks have been caught in the current market downturn. | imranawan
14/1/2016 15:06 | Interesting price action this afternoon. I do not have level two, but that looks like a textbook tree shake before the update Someone with more knowledge may wish to correct if wrong. | tintin82
07/1/2016 19:50 | tintinAgree, small caps holding up better during these volatile times.......can still have their moments though!.Good Luck.DD | discodave4
07/1/2016 08:33 | Yeah I think picking decent small caps like sfe will be all the more important in 2016. General market stagnation will prob prevail for much of this year. | tintin82
07/1/2016 08:15 | Thanks tintin.Markets taking a bashing this year!.GLDD | discodave4
07/1/2016 07:07 | Morning Dave, Gist of the article is based around the excellent growth prospects in Southern England, unmatched by the competition due to the credit facilities on offer. Profits expected to be well up. With the large cash pile ST thinks a share buy back or special divi might be on the cards. I don't what to get my hopes up but this is all shaping up very nicely indeed. | tintin82
06/1/2016 23:22 | tintin82,Any chance of a cut and paste job?, or any other worthwhile snippets.ThanksDD | discodave4
06/1/2016 13:12 | Yes, a very upbeat article. ST expecting a belter of a trading update. Even mention of a share buy back. | tintin82
06/1/2016 13:03 | just tipped again by Simon Thompson in the IC | alter ego
06/1/2016 11:27 | Selling is definitely more difficult. I sold CHRT when it hit my fair value target, then continued to motor on another 30%. You just never know. Hence my train of thought with SFE, although near fair value, it is growing great and if the price falls back a bit, im sure it will recover and then some. GLA | tintin82
06/1/2016 11:14 | Thanks for your thoughts tintin and Discodave - good luck with your investing. I find selling and cutting positions the hardest thing to do. For any future investments I'll use stoplosses but even these sometimes don't help ie. GMD and PMR. | imranawan
06/1/2016 09:42 | Imranawan,I was hovering over the sell button this morning for TPT, as do think also that it's fully valued and revenue growth is slowing up. Will see, but so far this morning the markets seem to disagree. As for PMR, did loads of research before investing, it looked sooooo undervalued!, just shows how wrong you can be despite the vast amount of research undertaken. I'm about 50% down at the moment, tried offloading on the last profit warning but it's so illiquid I could hardly sell any - lesson learnt, stay well away from very illiquid stock (focus a lot on this now!). Ironic but researched and bought SFE at the same time as PMR, the profit here alone has negated my losses at PMR.Have a good day investing. Work beckons :(DD | discodave4
06/1/2016 09:38 | Same boat as you guys, started 2013, made some horrid mistakes with the likes of XARR, QPP, PLUS. But our mistakes are what make us really learn! At one point I was 40% down in my entire pot and really felt like jacking it. Persevered and now am literally a few % down overall since I started in 2013. SFE has certainly helped! I was so close to buying into GMD a few months ago, I don't think anyone saw the last trading update coming in so bad. | tintin82
06/1/2016 09:31 | Discodave I'm a still a relative novice and started in late 2013 and made loads of mistakes as you do when you first start and still continue to do so. I bought GMD in the autumn and looked how that turned out. I'm around 90% invested in the markets, but have a little cash on the sidelines. The watchlist does keep growing but some of these have question marks. I've held TPT and done well with them. Sold them last spring as I felt they were fully valued, but in hindsight a little too early. I think they issued a decent trading update this morning as well, but in my opinion I think they're fully valued BWTFDIK. I hold CNKS, but have looked at PMR in the past. How much are you down on PMR if you don't mind me asking? I was tempted to pick up some stock, but as I already hold CNKS and am not keen on brokers I've held off doing anything. GL Imran. | imranawan
06/1/2016 08:45 | Imranawan,Well done with HOME. Very strange IMV that SBRY have bid. You probably already know but they sold Homebase in 2000 for £979m as they wanted to focus on addressing the decline in their market share for grocery/food (supermarket war with Tesco). Now with their £1bn bid for HOME they effectively want to buy it back (and get Argos for free) in order to diversify their markets and address the decline in their market share for grocery/food (supermarket war with Aldi - and the rest).tintin82 - About 50% cash at the moment, still uncertain which way things are going to go. So loads more on my watchlist (which keeps growing!) than invested but main holdings include: AHT, BVS, PMR (ouch!), TPT, WKP, also a couple of gold minnows which aren't worth mentioning! (early mistakes when starting out in 2012/13).Apologies to others for going slightly off topic.GLDD | discodave4
06/1/2016 07:17 | Discodave I bought in around Nov shortly after the PW so my average is around 113 - I was tempted to top up yesterday morning but didn't. Am happy to let those that I have run for the time being. In terms of other stocks I hold, or follow the following is a brief list: AMO, FRP, BON. | imranawan
06/1/2016 06:45 | Folks we all seem to be working on very similar wave lengths here with our valuation metrics and company interests. Can I ask for taste of what other companies you guys follow? Always interested in what apparently sane level headed folk are looking at ?For me FFY, NVA, EHG, WIZZ to name a few | tintin82
05/1/2016 23:46 | Been watching HOME for months, just thought a bid would only come after the Jan trading update so missed the boat I think - kicking myself as hovered over the buy button at £1, Aaah well.Did you buy in today before the big rise?, all the best with it. DD | discodave4
05/1/2016 22:22 | Know the feeling Discodave. I also hold some HOME and just hope a bid now materialises. | imranawan
05/1/2016 22:04 | Thanks imranawan.Nice just to be in profit......for a change!.GLDD | discodave4
05/1/2016 21:06 | My 285 target was based on the 2016 EPS forecast of 18.7p x 15. I didn't think we'd get near to 285 so quickly. I assume they've achieved the EPS forecast for 2015 (17.3p). Current PE is around 16, falling to 14.7 for 2016. As I said based on forecast divi yield it still looks attractive. | imranawan
05/1/2016 20:58 | Sounds like a plan.May see how it goes up to the 25th.Can I ask how you derived 285?.My 270 target (Dec 15) was for yr end eps 17p X 15 PE plus 15p special div (with their cash balance this was just a complete guess). Without the special div this now has a PE of about 16.DD | discodave4
05/1/2016 20:52 | Well done on topping up at 217, excellent call in exploiting weakness | tintin82 |
