Larry Lipman, chairman of the company, said: "2019 was a transformational year for Safestay. We added 7 new hostels increasing our number of sites to 20 making us a leading premium hostel operator in Europe."He said the firm made a good start to trading in 2020, and added that "the sudden spread of Covid-19 has meant we have had to adapt quickly to an unexpected phase".Lipman said: "Our focus is on ensuring the safety of our guests, initially targeting the domestic markets in each country, and then looking to gradually return to normal trading patterns."

Elephant & Castle hostel was revalued following the 73 bed extension at GBP26.8 million, an increase of GBP10.8 million over the last valuation in 2017, which equates to a NAV increase of 16.7p per share

Lukehold, I agree, the young/sophisticated/carefree clientele that will be staying at these hostels are probably more worried about picking up an STI than the Coronavirus. If you are allowed to mix with bubbles of 6 people (likely to be increased) that covers groups for most of the larger rooms at the hostels. These hostels are aimed at the age groups that are considered low risk from the virus and I doubt Safestay get many bookings from the over 60's. I bought in at the low 30's, topped up in the 20's and then pretty much doubled down in 10-13p. I could sell for a small profit but I'm happy with my holding and will continue to hold for the foreseeable future.

Top end and bottom end of the market will be just fine imo. Average price of £20 pp per night will be full of undeterred young ppl as soon as available

Unfortunately dormitories are not tempting places to sleep in whilst the virus is about.
It is difficult to see how our hostels can be brought back into use for some time without dividing up the accommodation into individual rooms which would be very expensive.
If this were done, then the local authorities in London and other big cities might conceivably take them over to re-house some of the thousands of homeless people transferred in recent months from living in the street to modest hotels.
I believe, for what this is worth, that a statutory obligation will be imposed on the local authorities to do so.
Whether similar obligations will be imposed on the continent as well, I have no idea.
I have a fair number of shareholdings now confined to "the back of the drawer" waiting on better times and I fear my SSTY shares must join them.

I just saw it’s going to be quiet for a while that’s all. Today’s RNS May draw some attention to how undervalued it is

I think you'll be fine with your investment. It should easily double and more from here when things start to return to normal. The property alone is worth way more than the mcap

I have for me quite a stake here. I’ll be very lucky I think if it survives

Just a property company at the end of the day, no value for shareholders except when company sold, but AirBnB likely steal its thunder!

Property play yes, but they still have to deliver "ongoing high levels of guest satisfaction" to get there in style (77.3% occupancy up from 75.6% encouraging though)? It would be good to have a customer feedback metric on this to show they care. Expecting Covid-19 impact but that would be an opportunity to top up, imho.
