25/4/2022 15:40 | Half year trading statement on Tuesday. | robinnicolson
22/4/2022 21:45 | There certainly hasn't been much comment in the mainstream Press but maybe that's just a function of this being an AIM stock? | jeffian
22/4/2022 17:45 | Davy Research write about the PE interest in RWS on page 59 of the latest "Davy Weekly Book" (Google those search words for the pdf). | robinnicolson

22/4/2022 14:48 | Trade should be able to outbid financial due to synergies. Can't remember the SDL synergies but it was tens of millions. Interesting set of advisers on the RNS. | newbold120
22/4/2022 13:58 | I guess if Baring have any serious intention of buying RWS then they will realise they are going to have to offer a pretty generous amount to get Brode to accept. I guess one way of that happening is they keep him on board and let him roll his equity and give him incentives. Whether he is up for that is another matter. Idea scenario is multiple bidders enter the fray. Have to think there will be decent interest from other parties. Both trade and p/e buyers must be circling. | horndean eagle
22/4/2022 12:27 | Toffeeman, "RWS notes the announcement made by Baring Private Equity Asia Fund VIII Limited ("BPEA") on 21 April 2022 and confirms that RWS has not received any formal approach from BPEA in relation to a possible offer for the Company ("Possible Offer"). Shareholders are advised to take no action in relation to the Possible Offer at this time. RWS will provide an update as and when required. | alter ego
22/4/2022 12:01 | No apology needed | phillis
22/4/2022 10:32 | >> Phillis sorry if I am being thick but please explain what that has to do with RWS | toffeeman
22/4/2022 09:09 | Background | phillis
22/4/2022 07:50 | Brode must agree It seems beyond belief - naive in the extreme - that they have not had the courtesy to approach Brode before leaking news | phillis
21/4/2022 21:03 | Brode still holds a very strong hand. To force through a contested bid needs at least 75% and to mop up the whole lot requires over 90%. He is still in control. | jeffian
21/4/2022 15:13 | GL Devon Made only 11p per shs profit here. I came in late, about 420 squids profit after commission. | firestorm911
21/4/2022 15:01 | Looks like a very opportunistic move to me. The Brode style is to acquire and shake down the new acquisition to make it function more efficiently. Sometimes this takes a little bit longer as is the case with SDL. The market has trashed the share price to the point where it is attracting vultures. Brode needs to get his shotgun out of the cabinet! | ygor705
21/4/2022 14:47 | Tarrant , anyone can preserve their IHT exempt status on a takeover if they reinvest the cash in another BPR holding. The 2 yr clock does not restart as long as the reinvestment is done in a timely fashion ; cannot recall the exact phrase. Mistake is to die holding the cash intending to invest. | wad collector
21/4/2022 14:40 | The price is meandering around 415p now; does not look like the market views 650 as a realistic prospect. | wad collector
21/4/2022 13:11 | I too have been a shareholder for over a decade and in all that time I don't recall the business ever being so undervalued. I'm not in the least bit surprised that private equity are sniffing around. In a February research note [post 1253] Berenberg had a price target of 810p, whilst the consensus price target is 622p according to SharePad. I will be very disappointed if RWS is acquired. | robinnicolson
21/4/2022 13:06 | according to website he only owns 23%? | babbler
21/4/2022 11:55 | Mixed feelings here. Have held for more than decade and have a large holding ( for me anyway). Even at today’s much depressed share price it’s very profitable. Unfortunately the biggest part of my holding isn’t in my ISA so there’s a large cgt bill in prospect. Anything around 6.50 would be acceptable though in today’s market. | alter ego
21/4/2022 11:45 | Only for the trade but yes, I think they will need to pay £6.50 at a minimum and they are probably fully aware of that. Sitting duck though, needs to be taken over. | devonlad
21/4/2022 11:33 | You are here, Devon? | firestorm911
21/4/2022 11:24 | However, the value to Mr Brodie's family from an inheritance tax viewpoint is significantly better in shares in RWS than in cash. I suspect however that he and other major long term shareholders will have been severely depressed by the share price movement in the last few months and may therefore not be totally averse to an offer that more fairly values the company. | tarrant77 |
