Can't see a traditional RI in the present unstable market (and climate where insurer's fortunes can turn on a die). Probable placing with favoured IIs at 68.5p. Problem is they will dilute the heck out of LT holders and with the divi cut likely to see 40-50p in near future. This is not a forgiving market. Will buy in a couple of months and keep for a few years. imo

A rights issue is the easy way out, something a schoolboy could suggest. The new CEO is able to provide a better solution, if not he is not worth is ample salary.
We will soon find out if he is.

Well today could have been a lot worse. I think it is fair to say that the prospect of capital raising and dividend cuts are in the price now.

lol !!!!!

And your cousin is being paid with RIGHTS ISSUE CASH or TAXPAYERS CASH.

with a very nice BONUS to BOOT.

Nice.

THE CITY has it all down to a T.

Like I said in another language it would be called STEALING.

I think its fair to say Hestor could have earned more, and was relatively lowly paid at RBS. Relatively being the key word there. To use the football analogy Suarez is underpaid compared to Rooney, but they are all grossly overpaid in my eyes and its the fan that has to stump up the cash be it at the gate or through TV or both (as in my case, but following a championship side is relatively cheap).

I think he did OK at RBS - Goodwin left it in a terrible mess and whilst its not out of the woods its doing better. My cousin is a banker there. I'm not sure what he earns, but its a lot.

Get real topvest,

Them footballers provide very good entertainment and what people pay to watch is
above board.

What BANKS and INSURANCE companies do is CHEAT the footie watcher and pay
themselves BONUSES out of the footie watchers MONEY. In any other language it
would be called "STEALING"

Footie players DONOT STEAL.

Well hopefully he will get a massive bonus and pay tax on it. That is good for Mr Hester, good for RSA when he turns it around and good for the countries tax income. He was underpaid at RBS by the way, in my view! Does anyone complain at ridiculously greedy footballer salaries...no...why should we complain when the top man at a major corporation owns a big bonus..it's not as though it is easy to do what he does or get to the top in RBS, RSA or any other FTSE 100 company.
