A RI is a distinct possibility, but, I'm beginning to think that this may be the way to go. A RI appropriately priced would put to bed any capital concerns for the foreseeable future. Initially the share price would tank, but, within 6 months would return to 100p plus.

Update on Irish Issues
Further to recent press speculation, the RSA Board confirms it will receive at its meeting on Wednesday 8th January the PwC report into the financial and regulatory reporting processes and controls within the Irish business and the Group oversight of these alongside further assurance reviews commissioned by the Board.
We remain confident in our view that the financial and claims irregularities identified in November 2013 were isolated to Ireland.
Furthermore, RSA confirms, as previously announced, the impact of claims and financial irregularities and the reserve review in Ireland at £72m and £128m respectively; totalling a combined £200m.
A press release with further details will be released at 7.00am on Thursday 9th January.

We desperately need to see this share burst through the £1.00 resistance level.

What will stop it ?

Correct. But the problem is corporate revenues are struggling and profits have come from cuts and not sales growth. Debt has risen and wages have fallen. Since the last crash the only thing that has changed is debt has gone higher and risk has been completely mispriced due to money printing, that has been directed to the wrong areas.

Perhaps we are. But that money has to go somewhere, and if it ends in inflation you are better of with stocks than cash.

Lots but we are in a central bank fueled false boom with money being forced into stocks

A rights issue is certain to happen. As I say this is a traders share now. The bounce will be short lived.

Dead cat bounce would have to be the day after it dropped. This isn't. Wet weather won't help this years results but may help next years.

Personally, I see strong chance of further ratings agency downgrades.

Experience dictates great caution where large cap companies unexpectedly lose their Chief Exec.

The ship is now sailing without a full-time captain at the helm.

ALL IMO. DYOR.

Dead cat bounce, this move up will catch plenty out. The traders have this share by the balls now.

The UBS note must have helped:
"The stock, the top gainer on the FTSE 100 index, also got a fillip from a UBS note raising its price target and adding it to the bank's most preferred list, traders said."

Divi cover 1.3p, the only way they could avoid a bid is to pay that divi in full. I think the will pay 50%, then still get bid for.

Zurich will bid 125p. Fund managers want a sale.

RSA has also been helped by UBS lifting its price target from 100p to 113p with a buy rating, partly on takeover prospects. The bank's James Shuck said the Irish problems could be a catalyst for change at the insurer:
