22/3/2019 17:39 | I had to check a few times to see if my post actually went through so thanks for confirming haha.On another note UBS increased its holding from 6.11% to 9.4%. RNS at about 11am this morning. | cellibomb
22/3/2019 17:30 | Whizz back to 3384 which must have been posted before you woke up. | bouleversee
22/3/2019 16:59 | Just an add-on bit: Elliott Capital raised its stake in RPC to 7.9 percent, a day after it disclosed a 5.6 percent stake. | billywhizz1
22/3/2019 16:52 | Having thought a bit more about why a hedge fund might be buying at above the offer price, I now reckon that they may have done it as they could see there might be difficulty getting a low offer across the line and the intention would be to get as big a holding as possible to add to the 'no' votes which could then force Berry to go higher. If that's the strategy, it looks to have failed but of-course there might still be a whisper of yet another bid. It'll be interesting to see whether they have stopped buying. The price in the market certainly seems to be back where you'd expect it to be. | spot1034
22/3/2019 16:26 | Given nature, wording used and heading: RNS Number : 6578T Berry Global Group, Inc. 22 March 2019 It is Berry making and processing the rns. Whether BOD had inkling, a preceding informal phone chat perhaps, what prompted rns and why today makes me think of a book I haven't read - 50 shades of grey. I share you cynism Boulevewrsee. | dr_smith
22/3/2019 15:38 | So who was responsible for providing the info. for the RNS update announcement re Berrybidco offer which appeared on RPC's website today? Don't tell me the directors weren't aware of it before they sold their shares. I just don't believe that. | bouleversee
22/3/2019 15:15 | I was waiting for someone to comment, did a double take when I saw it. Implicitly they have no knowledge that isn't already ib public domain but sitting in at many meetings they will have damn good behavioural impression, and nuances, glaring emphasis and the like that is missed in summarised notes. I expect this point to be discussed in mainstream media, seems very odd. Perhaps they will end up in the naughty room with Mr Musk for not following codes of practice. | dr_smith
22/3/2019 14:10 | Weird indeed L never seen it before | phillis
22/3/2019 13:40 | So the directors sold yesterday: Fin. Dir. 65000 @ 7.951 P.V: 240,000 at prices between 7.93 and 7.95. So they did this before releasing the announcement about Berry not raising their offer unless another bidder came in. They are not daft are they? Doesn't this amount to insider dealing? I'm amazed they can get away with that but presumably they can. I wonder who bought them. | bouleversee
22/3/2019 11:44 | stop digging and change your broker | phillis

22/3/2019 08:50 | According to investing.com Elliott have since increased their stake to 7.9% from 5.6% but provided no comment on this... | cellibomb
22/3/2019 08:41 | They wouldn't have released the RNS this morning just because they are concerned about investors buying at above their offer price getting their fingers burnt. Why would that be any concern of theirs? More likely it's a way of warning any potential new rival that they will (or probably will) come back with a higher bid if that rival decides to enter the contest. | spot1034
22/3/2019 08:30 | Isn't todays rns a bit odd. Saying that's the full offer - unless a third party comes along. That translates to me as "We could pay more, but we ain't going to" and would imply they think they have co over a barrel. From what I've read here on meagre information is that majority will be a no vote. Maybe Berry think it is only a no vote as they would really say yes but s/h's squeezing more money. I don't see co over a barrel, but possibly BOD. I say above having sold out, on same meagre information we all know. Dave | dr_smith
22/3/2019 08:27 | Will be interesting to see how this pans out. I remember they took a stake in Whitbread (which I also have shares in) and share price increased around 5% when it was announced. This seems to have gone under the radar as I can't find any news outlets that have picked it up (which is why I questioned if it was the same hedge fund) | cellibomb
22/3/2019 08:26 | Well ... Berry declaring final, a big no from me then | squidsgone
22/3/2019 08:23 | Yes Celli Wonder what is on their mind They are notoriously aggressive May have prompted this morning's RNS? | phillis
22/3/2019 08:12 | Well spotted, Celli. May not be over after all. Not sure why anyone would be buying at this stage unless they had some intentions. Did the directors sell those released shares yet? If so, I wonder who bought them. | bouleversee
22/3/2019 07:48 | Hi all, new poster here but been reading comments for some time on this thread.Anyone notice the RNS yesterday which showed Elliott Capital Advisors have purchased 5.6% of shares? Is this the activist hedge fund or a different one? Might be reading it wrong but thought it was interesting that they were buying shares regardless. | cellibomb
