Hopefully RMG will not go the same way as the coal mining industry and British Leyland.

Industries totally destroyed forever in large part by the actions of the trade unions refusing to update working practices and accept reality.

Even the destruction of the coal industry was not inevitable, the World price of coal is currently at record levels.
Coal was in times gone by the foundation of UK wealth, our biggest export earner.
Hard to believe.

Spob

I'd be contacting the company you purchased from to let them know -maybe they'll get a refund/discount on their next delivery.

(I'd only do this if it was a small/medium size business)

Spob,

Isn't First Class meant to be next day?
Failing that, day after.

I'm not sure the union would mind a split. They have no members in GLS and slaughtering the cash cow might lead the re-privatisation. Which would be allowed now that we are out of the EU. In fact if our next government is Labour then it would be likely imho.

I hope you are right una but am more than happy with how the last 12 hours have played out since reading the update.

woeful update, imminent strike - finished up on the day. the fact that they put the prospect of a split of the two businesses on the table, albeit it may simply be a counter to use in the discussions with the union going forward, is positive for this share. in the run up to ex-dividend date we should see this over £3 again. the stock market is totally focussed on home woes. refuses to acknowledge the value of GLS at all. remember tangible assets of £1.5b plus GLS, current valuation of the entire group about £2.75b.

alternatively keep GLS and sell Royal Mail back to the UK Government. OK, imagination required for that...but even so this has a big buffer in terms of its present bombed out stock market valuation versus the reality of its hard assets. be patient and hold on.

The pension is protected by the trustee. The union wouldn't allow a split between RM and PF so it's looking like they intend to spin off GLS. Not sure what they would be worth and where that would leave the remaining UK side?

Everything is for sale and assets underpin a share price.

Industries will always change, just look at the two you mention over the decades!!
Sub 100 is just laughable in my opinion and I would be stunned if it ever got to sub 200 based on it's assets.

This action marks the end of the postal service as we know it in the UK. Saw it with fishing and mining. Expect sub-100p for starters. AIMHO

Yeah an opening that I am more than happy with.

I think the bad news was priced in then and so it should be as no one can claim to be shocked by it. Also the fact there is clearly a stake builder out there is supporting the price too.

Let's hope things go quiet again and over time we creep up slowly 🤞🏻
