03/5/2018 09:46 | A good start to the day, hitting new 12 month highs shortly after opening. A shame it didn't build on that, but I'm sure we'll be back for another crack at 600p very soon. | eaaxs06

29/3/2018 11:37 | That caveat may well influence their behaviour, but if they were not so inept and wasteful they wouldn't have to keep raising their prices, indeed they could reduce them and make themselves very popular with the current party in power. | lefrene
28/3/2018 20:12 | Non of that matters really. They have an agreement with the regulator that allows them to make between 5 and 10 percent profit. If profits fall outside of the agreement then the rules are adjusted. | encarter
28/3/2018 17:24 | Certainly Oiht, but alas this is a 'civil service' mentality, it won't happen unless it's bought out and consequently a major culture change instituted. As just one instance of the lunacy:- an artic got itself stuck in a small lane about 5 years ago, it took two huge cranes and a whole weekend to bodily lift the thing up and turn it around to extricate it. Apparently the bill was circa £45,000, the driver of the truck had faithfully followed the destination map that he had been given, the map had a vital set of traffic lights missing! A map that I had several times pointed out was dangerously inaccurate, and I predicted what was likely to happen. They had been warned of the likelihood, but when I altered the map to include the missing set of lights, I was told that I had no right to do that, only management were allowed to alter maps, and they did not see fit to change it. So far so good, non driving management override information from the real world, just like being in the Army. The 'lunacy' bit comes in, when following this very expensive operation of retrieving the stuck truck, they solved the problem by sacking the driver, but continued to issue that very same highly misleading map!! That is the sort of mindset that you are up against, it still operates like a government department. | lefrene
28/3/2018 17:15 | Yes massive and the new deal will pave the way. | encarter
28/3/2018 16:39 | Plenty of scope for cost savings then. | oiht
28/3/2018 14:07 | 'normal' so that's running empty trucks for hundreds of miles because they can't be bothered to ring the destination depot to see if they really do need the vehicle! It's more like the NHS than one would think, blind adherence to 'orders' without the least commercial common sense, and no personal penalties for wasted mileage. Yes I have done jobs for RM, 450 mile round trips empty, and they won't ring the other depot when you suggest that it might be a good idea. That has happened several times, it's rather revealing about the job'sworth mindset of the company. But given their monopoly they will likely continue to make profits. | lefrene
28/3/2018 13:57 | It's a yes vote. Everything is sorted and back to normal now. | encarter
27/3/2018 20:44 | Lol Who would buy shares in the NHS ? Wouldn't be at the top of my list | ignoble

16/3/2018 12:03 | Nothing goes up in a straight line. It is hardly surprising there has been a bit of profit taking after such a meteoric rise. | grahamite2
15/3/2018 08:29 | Has it peaked? | oiht

26/2/2018 09:45 | Good point. There's a reason Labour have abandoned the working class and gone instead for any sort of "minority" they can persuade has a grievance, namely, the working class are pretty nicely fixed these days. They are not interested in the solutions to the problems of the 1920s. | grahamite2 |
