John Major participated as an "intervener" in the Supreme Court case. Suffice it to say he did not support BJ.

Corbyn tweet. 4.00pm.

Boris Johnson's unlawful attempt to shut down parliament has been overturned and we'll be back in the House of Commons tomorrow.

My speech to Labour Party Conference will take place at 4pm today. Join me live:

Maxk yes I watched him say that. His historical difficulty is that the normal period is for a week or less. He never attempted to explain to the Court why on this occasion it was to be for 5 weeks.

Dominic Cummings's difficulty is that he was intellectually outgunned by Philip Sales and David Pannick.

Reacting to the Supreme Court ruling, Boris has reacted:

“I strongly disagree with this decision of the Supreme Court; I have the utmost respect for the judiciary, [but] I don’t think this was the right decision, the prerogative of prorogation has been used for centuries without this kind of challenge. It’s perfectly usual to have a Queen’s speech and that’s what we want to do.”

Farage tweet:

The calling of a Queen's Speech and prorogation is the worst political decision ever. Dominic Cummings must go.

cfc1, the next election is unlikely to return a Conservative Govt with a clear majority.

There has only been one election since 2005 where a Party has enjoyed a majority. That was in 2015.

That led to coalitions:

2010 Tory + LD

2017 Tory + DUP.

Electoral trends suggest that like Germany, the UK will be governed by coalitions.

Part of the problem both Tories and Labour face is that not all Tories are pro Brexit and not all Labour voters are pro remain. IF the remainers switch, tactically, to support the LibDems, they may hold the whip hand, as they did in 2010.

Difficult to see how any party will win an overall majority for the next 20 years.

It seems to me, leeds, that the door would also need to be shut on him applying, but undermining that application in some underhand way to ensure the application doesn't succeed - nothing the guy says or does can be trusted, which is precisely why he is unfit to be PM.

Cant wait for a GE to see what the Public think! I bet on a Tory win and a majority with all rebels and more out of a job!

On a more serious constitutional point, the next step for Parliament could be to amend the recent legislation requiring a deal or extension, by authorising someone else, eg. the Speaker, to send the letter to the EU or to Withdraw Article 50, if BJ fails to get a deal which enjoys the support of parliament and/or fails to apply for an extension within a pre-determined timeframe.

Sure importing British socks.

The value of the UK's trade which will be impacted by crashing out of the EU runs into multiples of £billions.

Puts Her Maj in a sticky position if he tries to prorogue again. The lying buffoon has just been found guilty of misleading her, so how can she listen to any further advice he gives her?

edit: one would think that Victorian Dad would be shouting for the buffoon's head on a spike...

BJ has just given a sort of defiant holding statement to the cameras - he strongly doesn't agree with the Supreme Court, there will be a Queen's Speech, we will leave on Halloween. Trying for business as usual....looks like he may be considering proroguing! unbelievable. He's arguing with John Pienaar, unapologetic.

Swinson adds her criticism, says BJ is unfit and should resign. Will BJ try to dig in?, some asking that. Misleading the Queen is a problem for him...

Kinnock jr says he should resign, but thinks BJ will resist.
