Yes right through to 2016 at 110p a litre, guessing that's not beneficial at current levels but this is only 55% of their requirements so should be considerable savings on the other 45%.

I seem to remember reading they were hedging fuel costs but I wonder if they hedged 100%. If not we should be a beneficiary of the current oil price.

Ticking up again... The convertible unsecured loan stock issued by the Company in 2008 carries with it the right to convert before 31 December 2014 into ordinary shares of the Company at a price of 45p for each GBP1 of loan stock. Following the exercise of that conversion right on the part of holders of GBP245,000 of loan stock, the Company has issued 544,444 ordinary shares of 25p each ("Ordinary Shares"). These shares have been issued out of the ordinary shares of the Company held in Treasury. No loan stock now remains in issue. Application has been made for the Ordinary Shares to be admitted to AIM, with trading expected to commence on 13 January 2015 ("Admission"). Upon Admission, the shares will rank pari passu in all respects with the existing Ordinary Shares of the Company. As a result of the above issue from Treasury, the total number of ordinary shares held in Treasury is 248,335 and the number of ordinary shares in issue is 38,926,668, which is the number which may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interests in, the Company under the FCA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.

EYMS group have put Whittle's up for sale, Rotala's main competition in Kidderminster commercial/tendered services (Diamond Operation). A purchase of Whittle's bus business in Kidderminster would consolidate Rotala's position/remove the competition & no doubt boost earnings through route/fleet rationalization: hxxp://www.kidderminstershuttle.co.uk/news/local/11526595.Job_loss_fears_as_bus_company_put_up_for_sale/

Following the write-up in AIMprospector I have looked at ROL using the 2013 accounts because nothing moves fast here (except the buses?). Ignoring the adjustments for Acquisition and Pension Deficit, I get the following figures Trading Profit/Average Cap Emp 8.5% Profit Before Tax/Av Shareholders' Funds 9.6% Finance Costs/Av Borrowings & HP 7.2% On this basis ROL looks like an empire built on debt to get to a size which justifies the Directors' salaries. It may be fairer to exclude the £9.5M of Goodwill so that 8.5% above becomes 11% and 9.6% becomes 16.5%. Of course, this also has the effect of pushing gearing way up. The trading record is stable but might be difficult to maintain if interest rates go up and what would happen to the dividend then? I can't get as excited as the write of the article. Any comments please?

Lovely steady business to be involved in and with John Gunn at the wheel gives me much confidence the business is being run in the interests of all shareholders. Incidentally, if you have not seen the channel 5 show “On the Yorkshire Buses” It’s well worth a watch to get a fair insight into the running’s of a bus company: hxxp://www.channel5.com/shows/on-the-yorkshire-buses
