It could be that somebody who took part in the placing / open offer has just received their share certificate (mine arrived yesterday) and has decided to bank a quick profit.

Citywire AAA-rated small cap specialist Dr Paul Jourdan has used a share issue at ‘big data’ analyst Rosslyn Data Technologies (RDTR) to open up a chunky position in the business.

Jourdan increased his stake in the company from 2.24 million shares to just over 21 million or 11.1% worth £1.05 million at a share price of 5p.

The shares are held in his £89.5 million Amati VCT fund range, which he runs alongside co-managers Douglas Lawson and David Stevenson, both also AAA-rated.

Rosslyn Data raised a total £4.5 million in new equity, in an issue also supported by micro-cap fund Kestrel Opportunities, to fund its acquisition of rival Integritie, allowing it to greatly expand the types of data it is able to crunch.

Chief executive of the business Roger Bullen described the purchase as ‘significant’ and said it would also enable the business to rapidly scale up on its increased customer base.

The recent offer must have been very oversubscribed. Those very small entitlements were filled in full, but the oversubscribes were well scaled back - mine by almost 70%, so the appetite is there for RDT.
