24/7/2019 09:33 | The chart has it, the chart has it, as the Speaker might say. This is so odd (to me): the IMF talking about global growth of 3.3%'ish, but loads of signs telling us that parts of the world are in a downturn, or stagnating. Still hedging my bets. | poikka

22/7/2019 10:45 | Shows that they've got a sense of humour, lol. I know I've been banging on about a downturn, but one thing the Chinese do not want is discontent: out of work steel workers not good. Moving their economy up a gear and away from infrastructure is going slowly, apparently. | poikka
22/7/2019 10:19 | Seems to be a historic issue:- China charging another country with dumping ?!?! | podgyted
22/7/2019 10:17 | Shifted some of my mining holdings into BRWM. Not a great record, but they're shifting more into gold, now some 21%, and that's a bit of a hedge for me in these times. There's also a near 5% yield. | poikka
22/7/2019 08:42 | From 626, "China said on Monday it will impose anti-dumping duties on some stainless steel products imported from the European Union, Japan, South Korea and Indonesia." Wonder what that's about. Sending a message to the US? Seems a bit odd - to me. | poikka

18/7/2019 21:32 | So basically, demand staying strong but supply increasing. From podgy's 614 "The Baltic Exchange’s main sea freight index, which tracks rates for ships ferrying dry bulk commodities, rose on Wednesday, extending gains for a seventh straight session amid strong demand for vessels that ship iron ore from Brazil." Maybe signals more Brazilian ore on the market, or ships not in the right place, or both. Once got a hefty increase in freight rate, above that quoted by brokers, for coal from S. Africa, purely because of lack of ships. I see that Vale's German dam inspectors kept shtum about dam liquefication, months before it collapsed with disastrous consequences. Hope the right people get sorted. | poikka
