If so, you might have liked the film Amadeus.

Anyway I looked at this bb to read about RIO, and all I came across was posters swearing at each other.Very sad.

I'm very anti swearing. When did not swearing or not wishing to hear or read it become such a crime?

I know you've had a bad week, Gateside, but I'm disappointed in your 'holier than thou' attitude.

What do you do when watching a film and a few choice words are spoke (approx 50% of films)...walk away from the TV set or walk out of the cinema?

And you are still missing the point of my original post!

And christh adds value to this board as he posts useful info. It's up to others to post the other side of the argument if they wish.

Personally I disagree about the foul language. People should be able to discuss matters without swearing. Foul language adds nothing to a discussion.

Au contraire, Gateside & UtyINV.

Over a number of years, without previously commenting, I have found his/her posts of little value and quite annoying at times on both this and other threads. To be fair, there has been some improvement in quality recently but overt ramping (as in Post 54636) is unacceptable and is to be discouraged. It deviates from the unwritten etiquette of bulletin boards, a point which you both appear to have ignored.

I would also point out to UtyINV that politeness is overrated and sometimes strong language is warranted and who appointed UtyINV to be a member of the behaviour police anyway.

In addition, it occurs to me that the discussion on RIO is a tad one-sided and possibly lacking a technical perspective so I will be contributing a few thoughts over the next few days and maybe longer term.

However, I may have been a bit harsh especially as christh turns out to be of a sensitive nature and I would not wish to cause distress. I have taken the Filter off as a gesture towards conciliation...possibly suggesting that I'm not as big a scumbag as I might first appear. LOL!

christh... I value your comments. I don't read many bb's on ADVFN, but this is one of the best, as you post lots of relevant and useful info about RIO

Christh,

Your optimism is uplifting as no one likes to see RIO fall except those who are shorting it through CFD's. Despite my reservations and some previous posts I sincerely do hope the Brokers who are positive about Rio are right with their share price targets. As a shareholder, the higher it gets the better!

If the right result occurs on 8th June I am sure there might be opportunities and if Trump starts delivering on his promise to build US infrastructure. If he concentrates on delivering rather than threatening to create sanctions on China, foreign Co's etc etc then the future may be bright.

As for posters who post derogative comments about your posts, don't take it to heart, you are obviously passionate about plugging Rio. However, you and other posters ought to remember everyone has a right to post opinions, whether positive or negative.

It doesn't cost anything to be polite even if views differ.

Mining giant Rio Tinto’s $44 million secret

The Mackay-raised Hail Creek Mine control system engineer came up with a computer code that makes sure the coal handling and preparation plant at the mine site runs at maximum efficiency all the time, The Daily Mercury reports.

Leonard Gould is on track to earn Rio Tinto $44m.
After first coming up with the idea in 2012, it’s now working so well mine owner Rio Tinto is likely to secure a $44m windfall, which required no upfront investment costs at all.

In fact, the 38-year-old came up with much of it during his spare time.

“When you live away from home there’s not too much to do at site sometimes,” Mr Gould said. “So at times I’ll log into things at night.”

The code basically monitors all the inputs going into the coal handling and preparation plant, and makes adjustments, to ensure it is being operated as efficiently as possible.

Previously, the system would overload if it was fed coal too quickly, which would then impact the coal’s quality or even cause the plant to shut down.

“After looking at it continuously I saw there was an opportunity to design a type of code that can dynamically monitor multiple variables and then it continually alters the plants feed rates,” Mr Gould said.

“That’s the basic idea about it, that it dynamically monitors those multiple variables and then adjusts the feed rate.”

He first started toying with the idea in 2012.

But as trials were not very successful it was put on the back-burner.

When the mining industry hit “a bit of a lull” Mr Gould said his general manager started looking for some “out there” ideas, and he returned to the code.

After reconstructing it, making it more robust and “adding some more bells and whistles” it was trialled for nearly a year, before Mr Gould calculated it had the potential to make the company “big dollar values”.

“I took it to my leaders to show those dollar values,” he said. “So we went ahead and actually turned the code on. Instantly we saw a change.”

The technology has now been taken down to use at Rio Tinto’s Hunter Valley mine, where it’s expected to continue bringing results.

Mr Gould said he was continuing to work on smaller projects for the company now, but nothing of quite the same scale. During his seven and a half years in the Rio Tinto job, Mr Gould said he’s come up with a number of different ideas through the plant.

“This is just one of those ones that actually got some attention on a larger scale,” he said.

It is becoz of his ramping recommendations I actually bother to post some opposing comments. Even he does not belive what he recommended else he would have been buying . He is just encouraging other to buy in the hope he generates enough buying to lift the share price to higher .
