from 240ish there's nothing in the way till 260 and from there you're looking at over 300 very quickly.

Was watching this one yesterday and had a volume alert on this today.

Looks like pic did a good job calling the bottom, not on board yet but if this continues to move, may try to jump on.

ps my monika is purely coincidental!

Pic-Looks like your call (and title of this thread) was about right some months ago. Some one and or/institution appears to be stake building judging by the rises for the past few days. What is now the major resistance level?

morning all,

couple of buy premarket...looks like we will see a fourth day of gains.

If we break £2.50 then there doesnt seem to be clear resistance until after £3.00 !

Interest is finally picking up and about time too.

yep, its a nice chart in that the psychological barriers are clearly distinct.
For example there is a serious horizontal line at £2.40 of buy-back cheap 'cos its worth at least £2.50 types. They held for a while, but the wave of selling pressure took them out after about a month in late 2003.
In early 2004 there was another plateau at around £2.10 when the sell because its not worth more than £2 types took what they could get.

It looks like a clear road to £2.40 and then the argument should start about whether it is worth more than, less than or exactly £2.50.

Also, I don't know why, but I feel that £2.50 won't be the same problem on the way up as it was on the way down.

I said it before, but I think its worth repeating: the ACEA by 2008 efficiency rules will need vehicles to be developed 3 years before, ie 2005 onwards. Given that they can't all be done at once, the work for these vehicles will be in progress or starting soon.

I see that work as affecting the fundamentals for Ricardo. Maybe that's why I don't see the mental barrier of £2.50 as being strong resistance.

I don't know the situation with engines, but I do with transmissions. Antonov has signed its "heads of agreement" with its partner and details of that should be out soon. It looks like a race to get the new Antonov designs into production. On the fool Torotrak web site there is enthusiasm by somebody for the Zeroshift transmission design. Even if traditional transmission designs are used, there is demand for more gear ratios to provide improved efficiency. No matter who does this work, its going to be labour intensive. Some work should be farmed out to contract companies, and I think Ricardo should be a direct beneficiary.

My money is on Anotonov as being more highly leveraged to the ACEA by-2008 rules, but I think the whole sector should benefit.

Don't think this is a takeover target - I imagine possible contract wins and improved trading environment are the catalysts.

I hope you are right Pic, for my succes has been limited to Spectras
3 years ago. I hold in Porvair which has promise though I am on a loss
and BWE which I will pull out of at the earliest break even point.
I'm looking at this one as a medium to long term so I'm happy to wait
and see what it does for now

I suspect its not rising on the back of any specific news but awakening institutional interest as they rotate away from higher beta higher PE stocks in to more solid Sectors and lower rated companies - there is a widespread feeling that markets in general may be peaking and as ITs and Unit Trusts cannot go liquid Sector rotation to lower risk stocks is almost their only option especially for "smaller company " specialists.

Anyway whatever the reason its good news for Ricardo shareholders especially those who took the opportunity to top up recently when the price weakened

Hi D,

I would normally agree with you but this time I think there is more to it...three days of rises (today being a big spike) + some meaty buys going through. I continue to hold these as they look a prime takeover target.

So far I have got Peterhouse & WH Smith right.. I hold this and Matalan to make it four out of four !

I've been away from this stock for the past month and looking at the charts I
have not missed anything, but today, what has happened?????????
Is this the climb that we have been waiting for or is it just another bounce
which will result in the price dropping back down to 2.00 by the end of the week??
I expect the latter though I have no evidance ether way.
